In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, the enigmatic Mage Towers hide treasures of worth. Crack the codes of seemingly easy, yet misleading puzzles to unveil their hidden mysteries and acquire the prizes they hold.

In Elden Ring, known as Nightreign, each game has a somewhat unique map that’s randomly generated. Scattered across this landscape are distinctive landmarks called Mage Towers, which are tall stone structures adorned with blue crystals. These towers hide a simple yet challenging puzzle that must be solved before accessing the loot on their second floor. The treasures from these towers are beneficial for magic users and Nightfarers with high intelligence, such as the Recluse. This guide is designed to save you time during your game by providing the quickest methods to open and loot Mage Towers.

How To Loot a Mage Tower in Elden Ring Nightreign

There are two types of Mage Towers in the game, which you can tell apart by examining their entrances. The doors could be either open or shut. Regardless, finding the concealed emblem within or near the tower is crucial. Breaking this crest will either open the upper floor of the tower or unlock its entrance. Afterward, ascend to the top from inside the building and gather the Dormant Power.

Open Door Mage Towers 

In towers where the entrance appears open, you’ll discover the magical insignia within. If upon inspection, the front doorway seems barricaded, go ahead and step through it. Barriers without any crest or markings are deceitful doors placed there to mislead you into searching for the crest outside the tower. These towers can only be accessed once you pass through the false door.

For the other cases, there are several signs to look out for.

  • Extinguished Candle: Just as you enter the tower, turn to the left and look up at the candleholder. If it is extinguished, jump up to it and hit it to reveal the crest. Shooting the crest or jumping up at it will break it. 
  • Illusory Wall: Once you enter the tower, there will be a table and a painting on the right side of the interior. Look to the left side of the table to see the statue of a hooded woman. If the statue isn’t present, shoot the plain wall shaped like a doorway. The wall will vanish, revealing the crest.

Closed Door Mage Towers

If there’s a shield emblem barricading the entrance to the Mage Tower, look for the matching emblem elsewhere around the tower to unlock it. Here are some possible spots where you might find the corresponding emblem:

  • Above the Entrance: Stand to the left or right of the tower’s doorway and jump up to reach the point just above its center. The crest will shatter upon contact and remove the barrier. 
  • The Canvas: If you see what looks like a stone canvas holding a blank page open just in front of the steps, attack it to reveal the crest.
  • In the Water: Skirt around to the right side of the tower to find the crest in the pond adjacent to it.
  • The Shack: Circle around the left side of the tower to find a protruding stone shack attached to the back of the tower. Hit it to expose the crest. 
  • The Rustling Trees: Directly to the tower’s left, there will be two small trees and some shrubs under them that seem to rustle much faster than the other foliage. Run over to them to find the crest at their base. 
  • Dead Trees: Immediately to the left of the entrance staircase, you will spot three medium-sized, withered white trees. Attack them to open the crest.
  • Running Tree Trunk: Approach the partially cut tree trunk on the right side of the tower. It will run away when you get close. Attack it to reveal the crest and open the entrance.
