In the upcoming week, Elden Ring Nightreign will introduce a new feature – a two-player cooperative mode. This means that two players can team up and explore the game world together, without needing a third party for their adventure.
On July 30th, From Software will introduce a duos mode for Elden Ring: Nightreign, along with update 1.02. This update also aims to enhance the gameplay experience through numerous quality-of-life adjustments. The specific details of these improvements are yet to be disclosed.
The much-demanded feature is anticipated to be a significant shift for individuals aiming to conquer the difficulties in Limveld. Initially, when Elden Ring Nightreign debuted, players could only engage matches individually or in teams of three. In this setup, duo partners had no choice but to partner with a random third player or look for another person to join forces with.
A newly-released mod for Elden Ring, titled Nightreign, has been available on PC for only a few weeks, enabling duo gameplay. However, console players have been left out. Now, it’s fantastic news that all platforms will soon support team sizes chosen by the players themselves.
Initially, Junya Ishizaki, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign, explained to IGN that the game’s emphasis on three-player matches was more about balancing the game rather than a design choice. However, in a different interview, he admitted that a two-player mode had been unintentionally overlooked during development. Now, the team is considering adding this feature.
The timing for this new addition is quite fortuitous, especially considering that Elden Ring Nightreign has just surpassed 5 million units sold. Moreover, it’s worth noting that the original Elden Ring game has sold over 30 million copies individually, establishing From Software as the most commercially successful franchise in its history.
