Elden Ring Nightreign player count surges to more than 250,000 players in just 30 minutes, eclipsing the entire Dark Souls trilogy combined

30 minutes into its release on Steam, I’ve seen the player base of Elden Ring: Nightreign swell past a staggering 250,000 gamers, making it an instant hit!

According to our Elden Ring Nightreign live report, Steam’s data showed that there were approximately 255,867 players around 11:30 PM BST, which was nearly half an hour after the game’s launch.

Compared to Elden Ring’s highest number of simultaneous players (953,000), this figure surpasses that by over a fourth. Additionally, it exceeds the peak player counts for Dark Souls 2, 3, and Remastered combined, which were approximately 225,000 each.

As a gaming enthusiast, I must admit Nightreign seems to have an edge due to its multiplayer feature. This allows for more players to enjoy the game simultaneously, boosting concurrent user numbers significantly. However, it’s important to note that its review scores are lower than its predecessor, which could potentially affect sales. Moreover, its genre blend is quite unusual, and while this might not deter everyone, some fans may initially be hesitant to dive into something so different.

In our Elden Ring review, we hinted at a similar concept, and although initial Steam reviews are favorable, they also mention that Nightreign is a unique entity compared to Elden Ring. Given this, it will be intriguing to discover where Nightreign ultimately ends up – however, since console launches aren’t available in most of North America yet, and the release date is quite late, we may need to wait several days for a clear answer.
