In Elden Ring Nightreign, relics serve as powerful items that enhance your Nightfarer’s abilities during each playthrough. However, there is a restriction on the number of relics you can keep in your sanctuary at any given time.
A user on the r/Nightreign subreddit shared an image today from their Elden Ring Nightreign game, displaying a unique message as they tried to embark on an expedition. The message said, “Expedition cannot be launched: Possession contains too many relics.” They were advised to use the Relic Ritual menu to dispose of any excess relics.
You can’t play if you have too many relics

As a fan, I can’t help but wonder about u/Scufozzover1’s collection, which they mentioned could be over 1000 items. It’s intriguing to speculate whether this number might be connected to the seemingly common 999 item limit in the game, but without more relics to grind for, it remains a mystery where the actual limit truly lies.
As an ardent Elden Ring player, I find myself constantly advocating the need to declutter my relic storage. Primarily, it’s all about the resources. However, if you’re deep in the Nightreign runs, it can be easy to misplace just how many treasures you’ve amassed!
In the ongoing discussion, some users have resurfaced an age-old concern about Elden Ring: the challenge of managing relics. With an increasing number of relics accumulating, it can get tricky to maintain clarity on their identities or introduce filters that make sorting through them more manageable.
For me, managing my collection of basic relics is becoming somewhat burdensome already. I can hardly fathom the situation of this Reddit user, seemingly possessing countless relics in their inventory. While it may not be a concern for many players at present, as Nightreign progresses, it could potentially become an aspect to monitor. At the minimum, it serves as a friendly reminder to periodically declutter your unneeded relics from time to time.
