As gamers delve further into Elden Ring Nightreign‘s debut material, an array of new findings surfaces and Nightlords are toppled. However, certain Nightwanderers request a hint or two regarding items that might be lying around.
A popular thread on the Nightreign subreddit is requesting additional weapon information when items drop. In Nightreign, clearing camps or points of interest often yields a good deal of loot to sift through, making it desirable to have quick access to more specific details for easier identification.
According to several commenters, and after checking it myself, pressing R3 reveals details about the weapon class type, including Weapon Arts and passives. This information can be incredibly helpful, although it’s important to remember that in the heat of the game, you might still get confused by an item name. To make full use of this feature, it’s best to pause briefly and read through the details.
Although it includes the total damage on a weapon for overall calculations, the scaling isn’t always clear to see. Breaking down the damage into individual hits can provide clarity. For instance, knowing just the raw damage number gives you the damage from one strike, but not how quickly you can make those strikes. It’s unclear whether this accounts for weapons that split their damage as well.
In another post that could spark debate, a Reddit user proposed labeling drop items with colorful text. To be honest, this idea left me divided, as I’m not certain if seeing numerous named items scattered around would significantly improve gameplay. On one hand, there’s a thrill in picking up an item from the ground and carefully assessing its worth against the ticking clock and the looming darkness of the Night.
Even though more comprehensive information about scaling and related details can be found in the sparring grounds through the equipment chest, it doesn’t necessarily mean everyone is fully equipped with all that knowledge or has immediate access to a wiki. It appears there’s a need for some additional insights to facilitate quicker decisions and calls.
It’s reasonable to have such expectations, but I’m not certain any of the proposed solutions seem like the perfect fit so far. FromSoftware seems responsive to player input though, as demonstrated by the swift adjustment to lessen single-player challenge and their intention to introduce a Duos mode. Whether they decide to further refine this aspect or leave it as is, spending some time practicing in the training grounds might benefit every Nightfarer in their pursuit of defeating the Nightlord.
You’ve got a wealth of tips and strategies for defeating all eight Nightlord Bosses in Nightreign, and if you’re curious about how to access the two restricted Nightfarer Classes (the Revenant and the Duchess), take a look at our guides: “How to Unlock the Revenant” and “How to Unlock the Duchess.” Additionally, we have instructions on how to switch characters.
