In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, you don’t get access to two characters right away. The Duchess is a character who requires quick thinking and adaptability, making her an exciting choice for players with keen situational awareness. On the other hand, the Revenant leverages Spirit Summons and Necromancy to combat the encroaching darkness in the game.
As an enthusiastic player of Nightreign, I’d like to share a hint on how to get your hands on the elusive Revenant character. Firstly, you need to unlock the Duchess. Once that’s done, prepare for several exciting expeditions and keep an eye out for a unique item you can purchase from the Small Jar Bazaar. This guide provides a concise introduction to the Revenant class and offers a step-by-step approach to unlocking the Revenant character in Nightreign.
Elden Ring Nightreign Revenant Character Overview
- Revenant Passive: Necromancy
- Raise enemy ghosts to fight as allies.
- Revenant Skill: Summon Spirit
- Play lyre to summon fallen family to rally in battle.
- Revenant Ultimate Art: Immortal March
- Release vengeful ire to make self and nearby allies immortal.
In a different phrasing, The Revenant stands out as a distinctly unconventional class. This ethereal, spirit-controlling figure might not boast much physical power, but she compensates remarkably by conjuring allies. As a result, she is highly effective in solo play within the game of Nightreign.
Playing as the Revenant is reminiscent of using the Spirit Summoning Bell in Elden Ring. Much like her, this character has a Necromancy passive ability that lets her resurrect fallen foes to aid her for a limited time. Additionally, she gets to pick from three permanent spirit companions with the Summon Spirit skill as part of her character traits.
- Helen, a Page (like those found in Leyndell)
- Frederick, a Mad Pumpkin Head
- Sebastian, a giant spectral skeleton (like those found in Mohgwyn Palace and the Mountaintops of Giants)
In simpler terms, the skill called “Immortal March” from “The Revenant Ultimate Art” temporarily protects your teammates from death for a short period when activated. This protection prevents them from losing Health Points if their HP drops below 1. While it’s incredibly potent in the heat of battle, particularly when used just before a series of boss attacks, it can also be useful for quickly reviving downed allies.
If you use this spell close to an ally who’s on the verge of death, they will instantly be brought back to life. Also, Immortal March greatly boosts your summoned units, making them a formidable force in battle. Make sure to mark your location using the self-ping command before casting this so you can coordinate with your team and rally allies for this buff.
How To Unlock The Revenant In Nightreign
Purchase The Besmirched Frame, Then Battle The Revenant’s Spirit

To assume the role of The Revenant in Nightreign, players initially need to liberate the Duchess by unlocking her. After she has joined your team, you’ll need to amass enough Murk to buy the Besmirched Frame from the Small Jar Bazaar. In the Roundtable Hold, the Small Jar Bazaar can be found near the corner where Smith Hewg was previously located in Elden Ring, specifically outside the door where Fia executed D, the Dead Hunter.
To acquire Murk, you should embark on various expeditions. It’s not necessary to finish an expedition to obtain Murk, but the deeper into the three-day cycle you progress, the more Murk you will earn. A total of 1,500 Murk is required to purchase the Besmirched Frame.
After obtaining it, return to the Roundtable and locate the corridor adjacent to the statue where characters are selected (outside what is typically Gideon Ofnir’s study). With the Frame in your possessions, you will find the spirit of a girl visible in this area.

Enter a battlefield in Limveld that’s specifically tailored for you by touching its essence. Navigate towards the combat arena and prepare to meet the Revenant, also known as the Night Idol. As the fight commences, she’ll summon her trio of Summoned Spirits to join the fray.

Approach the Night Idol, summon her companions one at a time, and be cautious to dodge her attacks from Miquella’s Rings spells. After all three summons have been dealt with, focus on the Night Idol herself.

By overcoming her, you’ll be instantly transported back to Roundtable Hold, gaining the power to assume the role of the Revenant. Visit the character selection statue or the Sparring Grounds to switch to the Revenant class and experience this character’s distinctive summoning gameplay style firsthand.
