From Software, creators of Elden Ring, have officially confirmed they will include two-player cooperative play in Nightreign, a feature they acknowledge was unintentionally overlooked during development.
According to From Software, they plan to introduce “Duo Expeditions” at some point in the future. Starting this month, players can look forward to improved battles featuring the current Nightlords. However, the developer didn’t offer any details about what they mean by “improved” or “enhanced.
Nightreign is also getting unspecified DLC in the future as part of the game’s ongoing support.
According to Nightreign’s game director Junya Ishizaki, speaking to IGN, the team unfortunately overlooked the option for two-player co-op during development. He expressed his regret over this oversight.
Ishizaki clarified that Nightreign was designed to be enjoyable whether played individually or in teams of three. Given the extensive efforts by From Software to perfect the gameplay for single-player and three-person cooperative modes, they did not prioritize two-player cooperation in their design.
As I’ve been pouring all my focus into one particular part of the game, I realized we might have missed out on enhancing the duo gaming experience, which I regretfully admit has been somewhat overlooked, according to Ishizaki. Interestingly enough, just this week, Nightreign rolled out a patch aimed at boosting the solo player’s gameplay, but it’s high time we paid more attention to the duos aspect too.
In a span of five days, it was revealed that Nightreign boasted 3.5 million players. This achievement was anticipated, considering Elden Ring itself surpassed sales of 30 million units and garnered immense enthusiasm among its fanbase.

According to TopMob’s Nightreign review, the game received a rating of 9 out of 10. The reviewer, Richard Wakeling, described it as a captivating, swift, and combative multiplayer experience that encapsulates Elden Ring in an intense and rapid manner.
