Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree – Golem Fist Build Guide

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree - Golem Fist Build Guide

As a seasoned Elden Ring veteran who’s spent more hours than I care to admit wielding the mighty Golem Fist, let me share my two copper pieces on crafting the perfect talisman build for this beastly weapon.

Following update Patch 1.13, the in Elden Ring has transformed into a potent force of nature. The patch introduced an additional hitbox for its heavy attack, meaning that at the right distance, your heavy strikes will connect twice rather than once. This enhancement enables you to inflict significantly more damage up close, even for characters who prefer to charge and pummel enemies with this weapon’s rapid light attacks.

Although things aren’t flawless just yet, there are some issues and areas for improvement when designing your construction. Here’s some insight on how to effectively utilize the Golem Fist, aiming to optimize your build as much as possible. Let’s delve into the key aspects to consider for an optimal setup.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Golem Fist

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree - Golem Fist Build Guide

Pros Cons
+ Big Damage when both hits of the heavy attack connect – Light attacks have small range
+ Fast light attacks – Extremely bugged
+ Charged and uncharged heavy attacks fire a projectile – Long heavy attack animation
+ Great Strength and Faith scaling – Projectiles have finicky tracking
+ Good sprint attacks
+ Best used when two-handed

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share my excitement about the Golem Fist, a remarkable fist-weapon introduced in the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. This weapon is exclusively found within Taylew’s Ruined Forge. While its basic moveset might seem common for punching, what truly sets the Golem Fists apart is their unique ability to fire projectiles with standing heavy attacks – both charged and uncharged.

Following Update 1.13, the Golem Fist can now inflict sufficient damage to disintegrate anything that might mock your Tarnished character in an amusing manner. Although it may be tough to employ effectively in Player versus Player combat due to its poor projectile tracking, the heavy attack’s high damage potential still makes it a formidable force at close quarters against hostile Tarnished. In PvP and PvE situations, this weapon’s light attacks and sprint attacks are swift enough to catch enemies off guard. When deployed against bosses, these fists can significantly deplete their health bars as long as you manage to fully charge your heavy attacks. As an alternative, if you don’t have the luxury of time for a heavy attack, this weapon’s rapid light and sprint attacks should serve you well in both PvP and PvE scenarios.

Bugs

Although it boasts several advantages, the primary challenge for this weapon at present is a considerable number of glitches impairing its overall efficiency. While Patch 1.13 addressed numerous difficulties associated with this weapon, some residual problems persist. Here’s a brief rundown of the bugs that continue to hamper the weapon:

  • Golem Fist does not benefit from the following Talismans:
  • These fists are also not buffed by the
  • According to a video by Syrobe, the first hit of the heavy attack does not deal any status effects

Best Ashes of War And Infusions For Golem Fists

  • /

For this weapon, the optimal Ashes of War could enhance its damage output, provide resistance against enemy interruptions during your attacks, or grant an instant teleport ability for your Tarnished character, placing them within the striking range of the Golem Fist.

When it comes to crafting this particular weapon, you have two options: enhancing its abilities over time through a process known as ‘stacking’ status effects, or boosting the potency of its strong, charged heavy attack by enhancing it. (Many thanks to Syrobe for contributing these innovative build ideas.)

Status Effects

Although the initial strike of the powerful charged attack may not be functioning correctly and fail to cause any status effects, the subsequent punch and projectiles will still contribute to the accumulation of statuses. Given its rapid heavy attack and swift light attack sequences, Golem Fist can amass status effects at an astonishing pace. Typically, a Blood infusion or Frost infusion are employed, with Blood being more advantageous due to abilities like and increasing the damage of your fists. Additionally, Poison is another viable choice because of the talisman and helmet.

When it comes to constructing a status effect build, the Ashes of War you might opt for are versatile. Endure, The Blooming Poison Flower, and Lifesteal Fist are all solid choices. This is advantageous because you have a lengthy charged heavy attack animation, making it easier to keep swinging even when your opponent attacks you due to the higher poise.

Heavy Attack Focus

Instead, if your strategy leans towards amplifying the immense damage of heavy attacks, consider applying a Flame-Art infusion due to its superior scaling with Faith. A stronger emphasis on Faith also opens up the use of buffs such as , and , which compensate for the limited choices in Talismans/Physicks. Finally, equip an Ash of War that assists in closing gaps or enhances your poise, enabling you to continue attacking uninterruptedly.

In this scenario, “Bloodhound Step” and “Quickstep” are solid alternatives to wearing heavy armor. These moves allow you to quickly teleport into the Golem Fist’s effective range, where you can unleash a powerful charged attack that often catches opponents off guard, particularly if they’re weakened and not anticipating an assault from their fists.

When you recover from damage after wielding Shriek of Sorrow’s weapon enchantment, the enhanced damage output will persist, even though your health is no longer depleted.

Best Stats For Golem Fists

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree - Golem Fist Build Guide
Vigor 55 – 60
Mind X
Endurance 20+
Strength 40–80
Dexterity 8
Intelligence 11
Faith 11–70
Arcane 40-50 if you’re using status effects

Based on the specific build you choose, you might need to emphasize Faith/Strength or Strength/Arcane more significantly.

For status effect builds, you’ll want to invest ~70 – 80 points into Strength and 40-50 points into Arcane. This is done so you can get the hardest-hitting attacks in your light and heavy attack strings, and you’ll be able to build up status fairly quickly thanks to the high Arcane.

If your goal is maximizing your heavy attacks, then it’s advisable to focus on building around 70-80 Faith and 40 Strength. This combination will enable you to cast buffs effectively and yield impressive damage results when using the Flame Art infusion.

Best Talismans For Golem Fists

Millicent’s Prosthesis/Rotten Winged Talisman

In many constructions, these artifacts are frequently included, and for valid reasons. They enhance your damage on consecutive strikes, making them ideal for builds centered around the Golem’s Fist. The damage boost maxes out at three consecutive hits, coinciding neatly with your four-hit heavy attack when fully charged. Alternatively, you can activate these talismans by swiftly executing a rapid sequence of light attacks as well.

Bull-Goat’s Talisman

As a devoted user of this formidable weapon, it’s crucial to cultivate poise to avoid my attacks being disrupted. Wielding this upgrade will boost my poise by an impressive 33%, making it ideal for pairing with heavier armor to surpass the 75 Poise threshold.

.

Two-Headed Turtle Talisman

Regardless of whether you’re rapidly firing light strikes or continuously unleashing powerful charged heavy attacks with the Golem Fist, this weapon is exceptionally demanding on your stamina. The recommended accessory will significantly speed up your stamina recovery, making managing your stamina a far less daunting task.

Defensive Talisman Slot

It’s wise to reserve one of your four equipment slots for a defensive charm in this build setup. The Golem Fist has a decent amount of damage output, and since you plan on using high poise to maintain your aggressive assault without interruption, having a defensive item will allow for more balanced exchanges with enemies during combat.

1. For combatting a boss like Gaius who mainly inflicts physical damage, some wise selections for this slot would be beneficial. Similarly, if you’re facing enemies that predominantly use holy damage, choosing items to resist such attacks could prove advantageous.

Lord of Blood’s Exultation/Kindred of Rot’s Exultation

These two charms amplify your attack damage by 20% depending on whether you manage to afflict an enemy with Bleed or Scarlet Rot/Poison. For those focusing on inflicting status effects, incorporating these two talismans into your build is crucial for dealing sufficient damage.

Fire Scorpion Charm

If you’re currently using the Flame-Art build and wish to focus more on dealing high damage at the cost of increased vulnerability, consider equipping the specified item. This upgrade boosts your fire damage by approximately 12% (8% during Player vs Player battles), but it also heightens the physical damage you absorb by around 10% (15% in PvP conflicts).

Axe Talisman/Smithing Talisman

In update 1.13, the Golem Fist is yet to be properly fixed and doesn’t receive a damage boost from the or the . But watch out for these two talismans in future updates. If the Golem Fist receives another correction in a later patch, these talismans will prove to be fantastic damage enhancers for all builds.

Best Cracked Tear For The Golem Fists

Elden Ring: Shadow Of The Erdtree - Golem Fist Build Guide

Since the Spiked Cracked Tear doesn’t currently work with the Golem Fist, the next best Cracked Tears to use are the following:

  • – Increases the power of flames by 20%. Best used with the Flame-art infusion.
  • Bloodsucking Cracked Tear – Slowly drains HP but increases damage by 20%
  • – Increases each successive attack by 9%, 13%, then 20%.
