Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Delayed Into 2026

The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring, called the Tarnished Edition, has been pushed back to 2026. FromSoftware needs more time to improve how the game runs on the new console.

From the start, Nintendo emphasized that they were strongly prioritizing support from third-party game developers for the new Nintendo Switch 2. A major announcement at the reveal event was that Elden Ring, a critically acclaimed game from recent years, would be coming to the system.

The idea of bringing Elden Ring to the Switch 2 with a special ‘Tarnished Edition’ sounded promising and was intended to showcase the console’s capabilities. However, early gameplay footage revealed noticeable performance problems with the port, leading to delays in its release.

You Can Now Expect To Be Maidenless On The Go In 2026

FromSoftware announced on Twitter that the previously planned mobile version of Elden Ring, called the Tarnished Edition, has been delayed until 2026. While not unexpected given the approaching end of the year, this is disappointing news for players eager to experience Elden Ring on mobile devices.

So, it sounds like the Switch 2 version of Elden Ring is delayed because the developers needed more time to improve how it runs. Honestly, all the criticism the first gameplay footage got was probably a big wake-up call for Bandai Namco and FromSoftware – they clearly didn’t want to release a game that wasn’t performing well!

It’s disappointing that Elden Ring isn’t available on mobile yet, but it’s good that Bandai Namco is letting FromSoftware take the time needed to ensure a smooth and well-performing port.

We currently don’t know when Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will be released. However, since it was originally planned for release by the end of the year, the delay probably won’t be very long.
