Elizabeth Olsen Can’t Remember Voicing Scarlet Witch On Marvel Zombies

Summary

  • Elizabeth Olsen forgot about voicing Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Zombies animated series.
  • Marvel Zombies is based on the Marvel Comics series and set in an alternate universe.
  • Fans eagerly anticipate the return of Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies on Disney Plus.

In a forthcoming Marvel series on Disney+, a beloved MCU character is set to make a comeback. Yet, it appears the actress was unable to disclose any fresh details about the series as she unintentionally overlooked her role in providing the voice for that character.

One of the three animated series coming from Marvel Animation this year is titled “Marvel Zombies.” This miniseries is inspired by the comic book series of the same name and takes place in the same alternate universe as the “What If… Zombies?!” episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) show, “What If…?”. The 4-episode “Marvel Zombies” follows a group of survivors battling against zombified MCU heroes and villains. Actors such as Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani are among those reprising their roles as animated versions of their MCU characters. While fans eagerly anticipate Elizabeth Olsen’s return to voice the zombified version of Scarlet Witch, she may not provide much insight into her character’s comeback.

At the 40th Film Independent Spirit Awards, where I was honored with the special Robert Altman award for our work in “His Three Daughters”, I chatted with Entertainment Tonight about my upcoming projects. We talked about the Netflix film and the movie we’re currently shooting called “Panic Carefully”. Towards the end of our chat, it seemed like they were going to ask if I would be back as Scarlet Witch in Marvel Zombies or the live-action MCU. But before they could, I jokingly said, “It feels like I did that ages ago.” I laughed and confessed that I can’t recall doing any of these projects or when they’ll come out because animation takes so much time to complete.

In November 2021, it was officially announced that the Marvel Zombies series would be produced. Two years later, in the same month, Vellani confirmed that she was reprising her role as Ms. Marvel and had already finished providing her voice for the series at that time. If Olsen started and completed her work around the same period, she voiced Scarlet Witch for Marvel Zombies approximately two years ago. Given this, it’s understandable that Olsen might not remember her work on the animated series, especially if Scarlet Witch doesn’t have a significant role in the show.

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t hide my enthusiasm about Scarlet Witch making her comeback. Although her primary counterpart was last seen selflessly giving up her life at the end of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” upcoming MCU projects that delve into the multiverse, such as “Marvel Zombies,” provide a platform for Marvel Studios to reintroduce the character without definitively resolving the fate of the main version just yet. Of course, I, along with many other fans, yearn for the Scarlet Witch we’ve grown to adore in the main MCU to reappear. For now, “Marvel Zombies” will have to suffice as a tantalizing taste of what’s to come.

Marvel Zombies is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on October 3, 2025, on Disney Plus.
