ARC Raiders is still doing really well, and the number of players is actually increasing over time. The game keeps getting better, and with more content planned and a positive community, it looks like its success will continue.
Embark Studios announced that their game reached 700,000 players online at the same time over the weekend, across all platforms. A large majority – 64% – of these players were playing on Steam.
PC Players Love Extraction Shooters
The extraction shooter genre – even though the name isn’t the greatest – has always been popular on PC. Games like Escape from Tarkov, Marauders, Gray Zone Warfare, and Arena Breakout: Infinite prove that PC gamers really enjoy this type of game.
ARC Raiders, launched on October 30th, brings a fresh idea to the gaming world: a post-apocalyptic world overrun by robots controlled by powerful AI.
ARC Raiders is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and recent data from Embark Studios shows an interesting trend.

Over 64% of players enjoy the game on Steam, suggesting that PlayStation and Xbox players haven’t fully embraced it yet. With only 36% of players on consoles, it seems there’s less engagement with this exciting extraction shooter on those platforms.
That’s a valid point, as the idea of an ‘extraction shooter’ is relatively new to players on consoles. Before now, very few games with this style of gameplay have been released on consoles, and those that did, like Call of Duty’s DMZ, weren’t very successful.
If you’re thinking about playing ARC Raiders on console but aren’t sure about the shooter genre, keep in mind that it’s the best-rated multiplayer shooter in nearly ten years.
