Embark Studios is expanding! Following the strong launch and success of ARC Raiders, CEO Patrick Söderlund announced that the studio is now working on two new games. There was some uncertainty about ARC Raiders when the team shifted away from a traditional loot shooter and opted for an extraction shooter format. However, that decision appears to have paid off, as the game, which launched on October 30, 2025, has been very well received and secured the studio’s future.
Since its release, ARC Raiders has consistently added significant new content every month. In November 2025, the North Line update introduced the Stella Montis map, unlocked by players faster than anyone anticipated. The following month, December 2025’s Cold Snap update brought a new challenge: a snowfall condition that damaged players exposed to the cold for too long. These ongoing changes and additions seem to have kept players engaged with ARC Raiders well after the initial launch.
ARC Raiders’ Success Secures Embark’s Future
Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund recently spoke with IGN about their game, ARC Raiders, and what they’ve learned from the project. While he didn’t confirm reports of a $75 million budget, he indicated the figure was roughly accurate and that ARC Raiders has been financially successful for the studio. This success is particularly noteworthy given recent layoffs at companies like Ubisoft, as it has ensured Embark’s stability and future growth. Söderlund shared that the studio is actively hiring and plans to continue developing both The Finals and ARC Raiders.
Both The Finals, which is free to play, and ARC Raiders, costing $40, are designed to keep players engaged with regular updates like new outfits, season passes, and other content. This consistent flow of new items also means Embark Studios has a steady income, allowing them to hire more people and work on two new games – which they jokingly say they hope to finish one day! The studio’s co-founder thanked players for their support and expressed optimism that continued profits will allow them to fairly compensate their hardworking team with competitive salaries and bonuses.

Although it will take some time before we see the games currently in development, both The Finals and ARC Raiders are consistently releasing new content. Recently, ARC Raiders shared a roadmap detailing updates for the next four months, starting with the January launch of Headwinds – which included a new matchmaking option and the Bird City condition. Players have even more to anticipate, such as new enemy types, map conditions, and a completely new map arriving in April with the Riven Tides update.

Okay, so I’ve been following the ARC Raiders updates, and it sounds like a lot of us weren’t super thrilled with the recent roadmap. The head of Embark, Söderlund, gets it though. He said the roadmap was a little vague on specifics, and he understands why we’re frustrated. Basically, they’re building this game as a live service, which means things are still changing and being finalized closer to release. He assured us they’re doing their best to be open about development and ultimately want to create a game we all enjoy.
