Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know what’s been going on. I recently filed a police report and am pressing charges against the guy who attacked me at TwitchCon in San Diego during the meet-and-greet. It was a really scary experience, and honestly, I’m now advising other streamers and creators to seriously think about whether attending TwitchCon is worth the risk.
An incident occurred at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego on October 17th. Videos posted online by attendees show a man breaking through security barriers to approach streamer Emiru during a fan meet-and-greet. Emiru’s team alerted Twitch, and the man was subsequently banned from the platform and future events. Twitch has stated they are cooperating with law enforcement as they investigate.
Emiru Presses Criminal Charges Following TwitchCon Assault
Following the assault at TwitchCon, Emiru announced that it would be her last time attending the event and encouraged other creators to reconsider attending future events. During a livestream on October 18th, she confirmed she is pursuing criminal charges against her attacker and explained that she filed a police report. She also stated that security at TwitchCon didn’t intervene during the assault, leaving her feeling extremely vulnerable and fearing for her safety. Emiru revealed that her management team pressured Twitch to take strong action against the assailant, who initially was able to leave before being apprehended. She publicly refuted Twitch’s claim of a swift response, calling it untrue during her broadcast, and expressed her dissatisfaction with the support she received from Twitch after the incident.

After what happened to Emiru, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy put out a statement saying keeping creators and viewers safe is their biggest concern. He admitted that even with all the extra security at TwitchCon, things can still go wrong, and he’s personally watching the situation closely. He couldn’t share specifics about how they’re improving security, but he did say they’re working with creators to give them the tools and support they need.

TwitchCon wasn’t the first instance of public harassment for Emiru. She and other creators were previously confronted by a fan at the Sis-A-Thon event in March. Additionally, Emiru hasn’t publicly addressed comments made by Clancy after TwitchCon.
