On its first anniversary since early access, developer Keen Games has unveiled details about their fifth content update for the game Enshrouded, along with its 1.0 release plans and a roadmap.
The significant point to highlight is that a fresh upgrade has been released today, centered around “interactive elements”. This is included in the “Pact of the Flame” upgrade, and these are the key enhancements being introduced alongside it:
1. Improved multiplayer functionality for smoother gameplay.
2. The addition of new social features to facilitate communication among players.
3. Enhanced customization options for characters and in-game items.
4. Optimized graphics and performance to provide a more immersive experience.
After a span of one year and four prior updates, the fifth update, titled “Pact of the Flame,” was unveiled today! This latest addition for 2025 offers numerous enhancements to help players interact more seamlessly with their fellow Flameborn. Features such as integrated text and voice chat, including an optional “by proximity” setting, emotes, and new party-related items like food and drink placements, coasters, and other decorations ensure that your table remains clean while you socialize. With friends to join in the fun or even NPCs and adorable, cuddly pets to keep you company, this update is ready for all types of players!
- In-game text chat in multiplayer sessions
- Voice chat: when enabled, current options are proximity voice chat or a global, server-wide, plus a new Social menu
- Emotes! Express joy, frustration, and other feelings using the emote wheel.
- First-person camera mode for building
- New props, cosmetics, and materials with over 70 new items, two new building materials. New quests for more vanity items are available, including a special Serpent Warrior-themed set just in time for the new lunar year.
- Twitch Drops: another new vanity set will be available via Twitch Drops — or simply by interacting with their Flame Altars and finding the items in-world
Due to the backing of more than three million gamers, Enshrouded and its creators have successfully implemented the core gameplay elements as envisioned and suggested by players, thanks to the Feature Upvote platform. The outpouring of support from the gaming community, including players, developers, commentators, journalists, and media, who have invested their time and effort in the game, has been incredibly heartening. This backing enables the team to keep working diligently on both realizing their dream for the game and incorporating larger features, enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements that players love. Player input remains crucial to our development process, from version 1.0 and beyond. Now, we at Keen Games are both excited (and a tad apprehensive) to announce that we anticipate launching the full 1.0 release of Enshrouded in Spring 2026.
