Giant Critter Scales are a somewhat rare crafting material in the game Enshrouded, essential for making powerful armor. You’ll need them to unlock upgrades as you progress, but they can be harder to find than other resources. These scales drop from Giant Critters, and if you’re having trouble locating them in Enshrouded, this guide will help.
Where to Find Giant Critter Scales in Enshrouded
You can find this crafting material by defeating the large creatures called Fell Critter Queens, which live in caves, especially those with Shroud Roots. A good place to start looking is the Shroud Root near the Passage to the Blackmire – it’s on the western side of the map, just north of the Cinder Vault. You can get there easily by gliding down from one of the towers in Revelwood. Approach the area from the nearby Ancient Spire and search for a cave entrance within the shrouded zone.
Before you can explore this area, you’ll need to increase your Flame level. Make sure it’s high enough that the Shroud won’t kill you immediately, and it’s a good idea to get some better equipment first. If you plan on collecting Giant Critter Scales, a weapon that deals damage to multiple enemies at once will be very helpful.
When you reach the Shroud Root, look for a large creature queen in the middle of the cave. We suggest clearing the fog by first destroying the Shroud Root itself. You can’t miss the giant critter – it’s much bigger than your character and usually has smaller creatures around it. It’s fairly easy to defeat with a powerful weapon in Enshrouded. Just be careful not to get overwhelmed by smaller creatures and other monsters while collecting Giant Critter Scales.
What Are Giant Critter Scales For?
Giant Critter Scales are primarily used to make the chest armor for these sets:
- Adventurer
- Tank
- Marksman
- Ranger
- Mage
- Healer
Crafting these items requires resources found in Revelwood, including Indigo Plants, Copper, and Amber. You’ll also need Giant Critter Scales to create the Ghostly Shield – a bracelet that generates an energy barrier to protect against attacks.
