As a gamer who grew up in the ’90s and early 2000s, I can vividly remember the days when we had to wait for the weekend to catch our favorite episodes of Pokemon on TV. The anticipation, the excitement, and the heartbreak when we missed an episode due to unavoidable circumstances were all part of the experience. But boy, oh boy, times have changed!

Unlike in our childhood days when we relied on live TV for favorite shows and suffered if we missed an episode, modern times offer a different experience. With numerous streaming platforms at our fingertips, viewers can now watch desired content anytime, controlling what and when they watch it. However, despite the multitude of streaming services globally, one thing that many still crave remains absent – Pokemon.

For years, it’s been tricky to find a legal, online platform to stream Pokemon, even on major anime streaming services like Crunchyroll. But that’s going to change! With so many different series and seasons of Pokemon, the anime is now launching its own dedicated streaming service in five countries worldwide. This means fans will finally have a hassle-free, legal way to enjoy their favorite Pokemon episodes online!

The online streaming service for the Pokémon anime is provided by WildBrain, a company that currently manages over 100 FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) channels online. On Tuesday of this week, they revealed an exclusive deal with The Pokémon Company to stream all 22 seasons of Pokémon on a dedicated channel. This channel will be called “Pokémon FAST” and will be accessible for streaming in the U.S., U.K., Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.

Firstly, the U.S. and Canada will be the initial countries to receive the Pokemon FAST service, with the other three nations following suit later. As of now, there’s no specific launch date announced since the recent announcement was made just last week. However, considering the excitement generated by this announcement, it’s probable that an official release date will be revealed soon, fueling anticipation and hype for the service before more details are disclosed.

In the world of Pokémon, “FAST” is short for “Free Ad-supported Television,” suggesting that this streaming platform may be accessible without charge, as ads will fund it. This resembles services like YouTube’s standard offering. By offering the channel free of cost, regardless of one’s disposable income, it ensures that households can legally and gratis enjoy the anime, making Pokémon available to a larger audience.

WildBrain recently shared that selected seasons of the popular “Pokemon” anime will now be accessible on the dedicated platform, Pokemon FAST. These episodes follow the adventures of Ash Ketchum as he strives to become a Pokemon Champion. The lineup includes “The Beginning,” “Gold and Silver,” “Ruby and Sapphire,” “Diamond and Pearl,” “Black and White,” “XY,” and “Sun and Moon.” At present, it seems that the latest season, “Pokemon Horizons: The Series,” which is currently airing in Japan, won’t be included in this collection.

According to Lara Ilie, VP AVOD and FAST at WildBrain in the big announcement,

“We’re excited to introduce Pokémon on FAST platforms for the first time as a standalone channel! FAST is a crucial part of our multi-channel approach to expanding our brands and engaging fans across all viewing platforms. Given our strong track record in audience engagement with kids and families, we can’t wait to use our expertise in FAST to connect with the rapidly growing Pokémon community.”

It appears this project will significantly expand the accessibility of Pokémon for fans, potentially offering dubbed or subtitled versions and allowing viewers to choose what and when they watch. While details remain scarce, it won’t be much longer before WildBrain reveals more information. For now, eager Pokémon enthusiasts can anticipate the opportunity to legally stream at least some older series, with 22 series in total, ensuring plenty of viewing time ahead.
