As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that the Epic Games Store has unveiled Samorost 2 and Project Winter as this week’s free games, available starting September 18! In addition, enthusiasts like me can also grab three more amazing titles to add to our gaming libraries right now.
From September 4th to the 11th, the Epic Games Store offered free downloads of Monument Valley. Initially slated for that timeframe as well, The Battle of Polytopia had its release delayed by a week. Now it’s ready to be claimed, joining Ghostrunner 2 and Monument Valley 2 in the store.
Starting September 18 at 8am PT / 11am ET / 5pm CET, the video game storefront, Epic Games Store, will offer two games, Project Winter and Samorost 2, for free as part of their upcoming promotion. These games will be available for claim until September 25, in line with the usual seven-day window for EGS freebies. Notably, neither Project Winter nor Samorost 2 have been previously offered in one of Epic’s weekly giveaways.

What Is Project Winter?
Hailing from the creative minds at Other Ocean Interactive, the game titled Project Winter is a cooperative survival game that also includes elements of social deception. The players’ objective is to gather resources, fix objectives, and call for extraction while secretly working against each other – as traitors among them try to sabotage their escape. As we approach its sixth anniversary, the game enjoys approximately 4,700 “Very Positive” user reviews on Steam, along with a “Fair” rating on OpenCritic (derived from an average score of 68 and a 55% recommendation rate). Though not yet available on the Epic Games Store, its platform debut is scheduled for the day of its upcoming giveaway. On Steam, Project Winter can be purchased for $9.99.
What Is Samorost 2?
Samorost 2 is a captivating point-and-click adventure game, lovingly hand-drawn by Amanita Design, a studio renowned for its commitment to the genre. The story revolves around a space gnome on a whimsical quest to rescue his abducted pet dog. You’ll encounter delightful environmental puzzles, fantastical scenarios, and an enchanting electronic soundtrack composed by long-time Amanita collaborator Tomáš “Floex” Dvořák. First launched in 2009, Samorost 2 became available on the Epic Games Store in June 2023. With hundreds of “Very Positive” reviews on Steam, this offbeat adventure game can be yours for just $4.99.
This summer, Epic’s weekly giveaways didn’t start with Samorost 2, as it wasn’t the initial Amanita Design title offered. Previously, their narrative-driven adventure game, Pilgrims, was accessible to Epic Games Store users from July 31 to August 7.
