- The January 2025 update for God of War Ragnarok adds the Armor of the Black Bear Set to the early game, making it easily accessible to players.
- The update focuses on cosmetics, including making Transmog features available from the beginning.
Santa Monica Studio has just rolled out an update for God of War Ragnarok, making it simpler for players to acquire the Black Bear Armor Set in the game.
In 2022, the game “God of War Ragnarok” made its debut and quickly gained massive popularity, selling over 15 million copies worldwide. The continuation of the story revolved around Kratos and his son Atreus, picking up where the last “God of War” left off, setting the franchise in a Nordic environment. Then, in 2024, the game was brought to PC platforms, reflecting Sony’s recent efforts to expand its titles across multiple systems.
In January 2025, Santa Monica Studio unveiled an update for the game God of War Ragnarok. Unlike previous updates that focused on fixing bugs, this one is all about enhancing the aesthetic aspect of gameplay. Starting from the very beginning, players will have access to Transmog features without needing to fully upgrade their gear to Level 9. The standout feature of this update is the Black Bear Armor Set, which will now be accessible for both PS4 and PS5 users in the first chest containing lost items within the game, not just during New Game Plus.
In the realm of your PlayStation console, the armor set will be given to newcomers of God of War Ragnarok as a welcome gift. This set can be obtained from the first chest in the Realm Between Realms, along with a package containing resources. To claim this reward, simply log into the PlayStation Network. Upon doing so, you’ll receive the complete armor set (Cloak of the Black Bear, Wraps of the Black Bear, and Belt of the Black Bear), 500 Hacksilver, and 250 XP for your gaming progress.
Although this latest update may not be quite as expansive as some previous DLCs like the “God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla”, it’s a welcome piece of news for fans nonetheless. Yet, it might not entice long-time gamers to revisit the title, as it appears tailored more towards newcomers.
It’s possible that the timing of the update isn’t just a coincidence. With recent whispers suggesting that the next God of War might be set in Egypt, and past rumors hinting at a potential new game announcement by Sony and Santa Monica Studio, it’s wise to approach these speculations with caution. Instead, let’s wait for an official confirmation before letting our anticipation run wild.
