Epic Unveils Fortnite Ballistic, a 5v5 First-Person Competitive Shooter

As a seasoned Fortnite enthusiast with countless hours spent mastering the art of building and battling, I must admit that the introduction of Fortnite Ballistic has me more than intrigued! After years of third-person antics, it’s refreshing to see Epic Games shaking things up by offering a first-person competitive shooter experience within the Fortnite universe.

Epic Games is unveiling a fresh first-person perspective called Fortnite Ballistic, which is integrated within Fortnite. This innovative experience will debut in early access on December 11, featuring both ranked and unranked modes. It promises to offer another exciting facet to the competitive scene of Fortnite, which gamers have appreciated for years, but with a completely revamped viewpoint this time around.

According to a blog post on Fortnite, the new game mode called Fortnite Ballistic is set to debut in early access featuring just one map named Skyline 10. At launch, it’ll come equipped with a limited selection of weapons and items. As players delve into the game, developers Epic Games will fine-tune the experience based on community feedback.

The new perspective starts here.

Introducing: Fortnite Ballistic

Ballistic is an intense competitive version of Fortnite that focuses solely on shooting. It’s a fast-paced, first-person game where teams of five go head-to-head in rounds without the traditional building mechanics. You can customize your character with outfits, wraps, sprays, emotes, and other items from the main Fortnite platform.

On December 11, Fortnite Ballistic will be released for play across all Fortnite-supported regions globally, with the exceptions of South Korea and Russia, as stated in the official announcement.

Here’s how it works:

In this game setup, players are divided into two groups, one for offense (attackers) and one for defense. The attackers aim to set up a device at either location A or B on the map, while the defenders work hard to protect those sites. This classic competition style is widely seen in popular games such as Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Counter-Strike, and VALORANT.

As I dive back into the world of CS/VALORANT, I kick off each round armed with a trusty sidearm and some spare change. With every match I play, I’m rewarded with additional credits, allowing me to upgrade my arsenal with superior weapons and gear.

It’ll have ranked and unranked modes from the get-go.
