The much-awaited refresh in Escape from Tarkov has arrived, accompanied by the 0.16.0.0 update. This new version offers a revamped Custom mode, winter weather conditions, fresh quests, and an array of newly introduced weapons. Furthermore, it signals the global reset, which attracts hundreds of thousands of players back to the game approximately every six months.

Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Notes – Key Changes

In the latest version 0.16.0.0, winter is at its peak, as we’ve reintroduced wintry conditions to the game. Compared to last year’s snowy expansion, this year’s update provides a more detailed and nuanced winter experience.

  • Khorovod, a new winter-themed event
  • ‘Frostbite’, a new status effect that reduces players’ visibility and stamina. The effect goes away in shelters, near burning barrels, or when drinking alcohol
  • Added snowdrifts in various areas for more variety;
  • Added a winter theme Factory, including snow and matching elements;
  • Added a unique winter sound design for all locations

The core of this update focuses on a significant revamp for the widely favored map, Customs, in Escape from Tarkov. According to the 0.16.0.0 patch notes, Battlestate Games has indeed announced changes to this map.

  • Fully updated some of the buildings on the location;
  • Replaced all opaque glass blocks on the location with transparent ones;
  • Opened three buildings on the industrial territory;
  • Added new objects to the location, including exploding propane cylinders;
  • Added new points of interest;
  • Added a transit to Shoreline;
  • Added new exfils

Once gamers hit level 55 in Escape from Tarkov’s Player vs Player (PvP) setting and fulfill multiple other conditions, they gain access to ‘Prestige’ status.   • Saiga-12K 12ga automatic shotgun;
  • FN SCAR-H X-17 7.62×51 assault rifle;
  • Akula push dagger;
  • V40 Mini-Grenade

In relation to weapon systems, Battlestate Games has made significant changes to the way visual recoil functions within Escape from Tarkov.

  • Added random weapon sway and horizontal rotation;
  • Implemented the visual effect of the bolt hitting the receiver;
  • Added a camera shake effect, reflecting the buttstock hitting the shoulder;
  • Added slight barrel sway effect for pistols;
  • Shotguns now have the inertia and calibre power effect;

Beyond the existing features, Battlestar Galactica (BSG) has introduced additional personalization options for the Hideout, meticulously adjusted numerous weapons and items, and refined the behavior of AI opponents. To give you an idea, Partisans, Raiders, Rogues, and other bots are now equipped to use Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs). Furthermore, they’ll start adopting tactics such as flanking, suppressing fire, and displaying increased aggression during battles.

Additionally, numerous bug corrections and enhancements for user experience were implemented, including raising the maximum ruble stack from 500,000 to a million.
