Escape From Tarkov Director Reveals Planned Updates For The Rest of 2025

Nikita Buyanov, the director of Escape From Tarkov, has shared details about upcoming game updates planned through 2025. After a challenging launch of version 1.0, it looks like Escape From Tarkov players have a lot to look forward to.

After a long wait, Escape From Tarkov officially launched on Steam on November 15th, but the release was plagued by server issues. Many players couldn’t access the game, prompting an apology from the developer, Buyanov. Before the problems could be addressed, the game received a wave of negative reviews on Steam, resulting in a current “Mixed” rating. It was disappointing for fans that the full release was so problematic.

Escape From Tarkov Has Plenty of Updates Coming Over The Next Few Months

Despite recent problems with Escape From Tarkov, the game’s director, Nikita Buyanov, shared future plans on X (formerly Twitter). Battlestate Games will focus on releasing fixes and improvements in the coming weeks. Players can also look forward to a winter update, new story missions, a special event, and the annual New Year’s TarkovTV stream in December.

Buyanov mentioned plans for seasonal characters and a new seasonal system, but these won’t be added until after the previously announced updates. This means we probably won’t see them in an Escape From Tarkov update during 2025. However, it’s positive that Battlestate Games has a lot of ongoing development planned to improve the game, potentially making 2026 a great year for Escape From Tarkov.

As a huge fan of Escape From Tarkov, I was really excited to hear they’re planning a console version and a new DLC called Scav Life. But honestly, it doesn’t seem like either of those are going to be ready anytime soon. Most people are guessing we won’t see them until late 2026, and that feels like a long wait!
