Nikita Buyanov, the director of Escape From Tarkov, has apologized for the rocky start to the game’s official launch. While Escape From Tarkov – a popular extraction shooter – already had a loyal following, the release of Version 1.0 didn’t go smoothly. Players are still experiencing problems, but Buyanov assures them that fixes and support are coming.
Battlestate Games has announced that Escape From Tarkov will officially launch in August 2025, with a target release date of November. After years in beta and an earlier alpha test, players were eager for the full version (1.0). Unfortunately, issues arose soon after the game became publicly available.
Escape From Tarkov Director Apologizes for Bugs and Server Issues After Review-Bombing
Following the release of Escape From Tarkov, the game received a wave of negative reviews on Steam due to server problems. Director Buyanov quickly apologized to fans, thanking them for their enthusiasm while acknowledging the long wait times and matchmaking issues many experienced. He assured players that Battlestate Games is already working on solutions, including adding more servers to reduce frustration, and that further bug fixes and improvements are planned for the coming months. In response to a fan comment, Buyanov also confirmed the team is prioritizing a fix for a bug preventing some players with the Standard Edition from accessing traders.
The apology stated that Battlestate Games will keep delivering what their dedicated fans want. Previously, Buyanov wasn’t concerned about negative reviews, suggesting that a small portion of the game’s player base would always dislike the studio. This new statement seems to reinforce that idea, focusing on pleasing “true” fans. Buyanov acknowledges the game still needs improvement and apologized for the difficult launch experience.
Server problems and bugs aren’t unusual for new game releases, and the developers of Tarkov are working to fix them. While it’s unclear exactly when all the issues will be resolved, improvements are expected soon. Beyond those fixes, Battlestate Games also plans to release versions of Escape From Tarkov for consoles and add new downloadable content, so fans have something to look forward to.
