Escape from Tarkov isn’t known for being easy to pick up. It’s a notoriously difficult shooter, and experienced players often boast about their skill to newcomers.
Tomorrow, with the release of Escape from Tarkov’s 1.0 update, Battlestate Games is introducing changes designed to make the game more accessible and easier to learn for newcomers – something they haven’t done in over ten years.
Escape from Tarkov is Getting a Tutorial
Escape from Tarkov has a steep learning curve. When you start, the game immediately puts you into the action without much instruction. You’ll need to learn the game’s systems on your own, as early tasks don’t come with clear directions, map markers, or hints about where to go.
The game didn’t offer any tutorials or explanations of how things worked. Players had to figure out the basic gameplay, strategies, and essential functions – like healing, managing items, and using weapons – all on their own.
After over ten years in development, Escape from Tarkov is finally releasing its 1.0 version tomorrow, and many are surprised by what the developers have in store.
Starting tomorrow, new players joining Escape from Tarkov will find a tutorial to help them get started. And the learning doesn’t stop there – Battlestate Games is also releasing detailed, step-by-step guides to help players progress, expanding on the introductory guides they’ve added over the past year.
Escape from Tarkov has always thrown players into the deep end, offering only simple starting missions instead of a proper tutorial. Even these introductory missions often proved challenging, especially after each major game update (known as a ‘wipe’).
This update includes a story-driven tutorial, new end-game challenges, a fresh map, and innovative gameplay features and weapons. We’ve also enhanced the game’s audio and graphics, and made over 1,000 improvements to various aspects of the experience.
