Summary

  • Battlestate Games COO Nikita Buyanov suggested that Escape from Tarkov won’t come to consoles.
  • The 1.0 release of the hit extraction shooter is planned for late 2025, more than eight years following its beta launch.

Escape from Tarkov is not expected to debut on consoles until after its appearance on the Game Boy.

On July 27th, it will be eight years since the beta launch of Escape from Tarkov. Over the years, the game has seen numerous content updates and enhancements, bringing it closer to its complete release, scheduled for late 2025.

As Escape from Tarkov version 1.0 is approaching, some enthusiasts have been pondering if Battlestate Games might soon be ready to bring their successful extraction shooter to consoles. However, according to Nikita Buyanov, the company’s chief operating officer, no console port project is currently in the works. During the most recent Tarkov TV episode, Buyanov addressed a fan’s question about a possible console version of Escape from Tarkov, stating that it will become available “at some point, but before then, we plan to launch on the Game Boy first.

Battlestate Wasn’t Always Dismissive of an Escape from Tarkov Console Port

As a dedicated gamer, I was taken aback when the executive casually mentioned that there are no immediate plans for a console port of my beloved game, Escape from Tarkov. This statement seems to contrast sharply with Battlestate’s earlier statements, as they used to express some openness about bringing their flagship title to consoles.

In fact, back in 2020, one of the developers mentioned that a console version could be possible, but not until after the game’s Steam release. Yet, here we are five years later, and Escape from Tarkov is still nowhere to be found on Valve’s storefront. Previously, Buyanov hinted that this might only change with the release of the 1.0 version.

It appears that a console version of the popular game may not be happening, but its full release is getting closer. This information comes from a newly revealed roadmap for Escape from Tarkov, covering the rest of 2025. The plan indicates that the game will exit beta by the end of the year, with the 0.16.9.0 update, which is scheduled for August 2025. This suggests that the full release could be expected sometime in the last quarter of the year.

As I eagerly wait, it’s been confirmed that the next big update for Escape from Tarkov is due in May 2025, labeled as version 0.16.6.0. This patch is packed with exciting features like tweaks to AI behavior, balancing adjustments, and performance enhancements for the Lighthouse map. The Shoreline map’s audio will be polished up, and there’ll even be a new in-game event to keep things fresh!
