The problem of cheating has consistently plagued multiplayer shooter games, yet it’s rarely as prominent as it is in “Escape From Tarkov“.

The star attraction among extractor games is now well-known for its rampant internal cheating, harmful community behavior, and overly strict AI that disregards real-world physical laws.

If you’re hoping for a magical solution to prevent cheating or to make grumpy players happy, then this update isn’t what you’re looking for.

If you find constant harassment by distant Russian hooligans swearing at you and shooting with a hunting rifle over a distance of 90 meters unacceptable for your future generations, then it’s high time to celebrate with champagne.

Escape From Tarkov Patch 0.16.1.3

The recently released update for “Escape From Tarkov” comes with numerous corrections, along with a refreshing shift in seasons for players who have grown weary of the snowy landscape.

Among all the other things I’ve encountered, nothing compares to the significance of the AI advancements unveiled today, not even remotely.

AI Improvements

In essence, even if you’re facing a seemingly endless series of fatalities against an ordinary scoundrel, it’s likely that they will continue to devise innovative methods to end your life. However, these tactics will appear more equitable.

  • Target detection is affected by weather, distance, angle, and target stance. Changes are not linear, so detection at close range will still be fairly quick.
  • Object permanence was added to bots. Losing sight of targets happens gradually instead of instantly.
  • AI no longer detects you through small gaps in foliage, except for sniper bosses (Zryachiy, Birdeye) and the BTR gunner.
  • AI will use single fire at longer ranges, fixing the laser-beam bursts from 200 meters that made the Water Treatment Plant in Lighthouse impossible.
  • Bots now only share information with members of the same group or allies within a 50-meter radius to prevent ganging up.
  • Suppressive fire was removed from scavs due to overpenetration leading to a ‘wallhacks’ feeling.
  • AI aimpunch increased by 30%
  • The interval between bot spawns increased for the same areas
  • Limited the number of bot spawns near a single player to prevent hordes from forming.
  • Scavs and sniper scavs no longer open fire immediately upon spotting a PMC at longer ranges, preferring to take cover and ambush them instead.

Spring Season

In Tarkov, the streets are now clear of snow, transforming into their vibrant spring versions. This change brings about lush green foliage, regular rain showers, and every unpaved area turning into slippery, telltale mud puddles that may expose your location.

Bug Fixes

Even though it’s approaching its tenth year, the game titled “Escape From Tarkov” still has several matters that require fixing, given it is technically in early access.

Patch 0.16.1.3 has taken care of a few relatively minor but extremely annoying problems.

  • The thorax hitbox is no longer immune to shots that pass through the arm, ending the canted grip exploit.
  • AI no longer gets stuck on random geometry across maps.
  • AI no longer ghosts through closed doors.
  • Transparent geometry improved to prevent object conflicts with elemental effects.
  • Equipping headsets with strong wind conditions no longer makes sharp sound.
  • Missing a quick time event in the gym no longer guarantees arm fracture.
  • Nearby bullet impacts and Interchange reverb made more accurate.
  • BTR driver tasks appear correctly in PvE mode.
  • Error 228 is no longer triggered by moving items in the stash after purchasing an upgrade.
  • The Unheard Edition perks appear correctly in the PvE mode.
  • NFM Hjelm correctly protects the back of the head.
