Escape From Tarkov Reveals When Softcore Changes Are Coming

As a big fan of Escape From Tarkov, I’m really excited to hear that Battlestate Games is planning some changes they’re calling “softcore changes”! They haven’t given us all the details yet, so the exact update to Escape From Tarkov is still a bit of a secret, but they said a complete list of everything new is coming soon.

At the beginning of this year, Escape From Tarkov revealed it will officially launch on November 15, 2025, finally moving beyond early access. Since that announcement, the developers have been preparing for this major event, and the game is also coming to Steam. Because Escape From Tarkov has been available only through its own launcher during early access, this could signal a period of significant expansion for the game.

Escape From Tarkov ‘Softcore Changes’ Coming on October 8

Nikita Buyanov, head of the Battlestate Games studio, announced on X that a set of “softcore changes” are coming to the popular extraction shooter, expected around October 8th. In a subsequent post, he mentioned that the changes will be “pretty big,” but details are currently limited.

Just a few months ago, Escape From Tarkov had a very challenging wipe that increased the difficulty, even for seasoned players. So, it makes sense that this update is designed to make the game easier, acting as a test run before the full 1.0 version is released. Not all of the changes in this update will likely be permanent, but it’s a useful way to see which adjustments are effective and which aren’t.

With November 15th getting closer, Battlestate Games has been sharing more details about the full release of Escape From Tarkov. They recently announced that the game will have four different story endings, but achieving the best one will be a challenge for most players. The developers also plan to keep updating Escape From Tarkov long after its official launch on November 15, 2025.
