Escape from Tarkov’s Ending Was ‘Changed’, But Not How Players Were Expecting

After the full release of Escape from Tarkov in mid-November, Battlestate Games surprised players with a challenging final mission. To finish the game, players have to fight through waves of AI enemies on the Terminal map and reach a boat to finally escape Tarkov.

A flaw in the game’s design meant the boat couldn’t accommodate everyone trying to escape. One player asked the developers on social media to increase the number of seats, but Battlestate Games responded that the issue had already been fixed.

But the nature of that change has players perplexed.

Solo or No Go

In response to a post by Velion requesting a way for all players to escape matches together, Nikita Buyanov from Battlestate Games commented:

Its changed already

This led many players to hope they could all escape Tarkov as a team, without having to make the difficult choice of sacrificing themselves or eliminating their friends at the final escape zone.

The recent change Battlestate Games made was a big surprise to fans. Instead of letting an entire group escape from Tarkov, they’ve limited the ZUBR boat to only one player, no matter how large the squad is.

So, if your team of five successfully navigates the Terminal section, you’ll have to decide which one player will finish the game at the very end.

Popular Escape from Tarkov streamer Pestily explained this in a social media post.

I noticed something strange while watching Terminal yesterday. Even when five people finish the game, there’s still only one winning spot? I get that things can change, but consistently only one winner seems odd.

The change sparked a strong reaction from fans, with opinions sharply divided. Some were very unhappy, with one user threatening to stop playing the game if the issue wasn’t resolved quickly. Others welcomed the change, explaining that it created more meaningful choices instead of relying on a predictable strategy.

A Tarkov player proposed a system where the number of seats on the evacuation boat depends on how well a player finishes the game – the better their ending, the more seats they get.
