Escape from Tarkov’s Rain Volume Being Adjusted in Future Update

If you’ve been playing Escape from Tarkov recently (or over the past few years), you’re likely familiar with how bothersome heavy rain can be in-game. It’s an intense sound that might make you wish you hadn’t started a raid and leave you scrambling to adjust your volume settings to prevent damage to your virtual eardrums.

According to feedback from a recent player survey about the game, Battlestate Games plans to modify the intensity of rain and other weather effects due to over 66% of players expressing concerns about the volume of heavy rain in the game.

Quality of Life

The recent player survey for Escape from Tarkov focused on gathering feedback regarding the game’s in-game weather mechanisms. Topics ranged from the density of fog and intensity of rain, to the option of switching seasons in PvE scenarios, as well as how frequently the weather shifts during a raid, were all discussed openly.

The results of the survey are in, and they reveal some interesting tidbits:

  • 40% of players are irritated by fog, but 7% of players hate clear weather
  • 53% of players want to see extreme weather in the game
  • 53% of players want to choose between seasons in PvE raids
  • 12% of players don’t want the weather to change at all while they’re raiding

Interestingly, around one-third of the players seem unbothered by the game’s heavy rain sounds. It’s possible that these are the players who may have already experienced some hearing damage from prolonged exposure to intense rain in real life.

In the latest survey results, Battlestate Games implemented numerous changes to the in-game artificial intelligence based on community suggestions. As a result, enemies no longer seem to teleport through bushes and their distant combat behavior feels more authentic, among other improvements.

Has the rain ever given you a headache in Escape from Tarkov? Let me know in the comments.
