As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for action-adventure titles, the announcement of Eternal Strands’ playable demo at Tokyo Game Show has left me thrilled to the core! With my past encounters with games that blend physics-based gameplay and magical powers, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation that borders on palpable.
Yellow Brick Games unveiled that they’ll debut a playable demo for Eternal Strands at Tokyo Game Show, offering attendees the chance to explore the realm of Enclave and engage in combat with one of its nine bosses called the Ark of the Living Frame.
Equipped with potent magical talents and an array of enchanted weapons, confront adversaries ranging from mechanical-like beings to colossal monsters. Leverage the surroundings and weather during combat against a varied assortment of mythical creatures, such as countering a dragon’s flames with frozen minions. Traverse any surface and employ mystic abilities to carve out fresh paths. Delve into the world in search of the Enclave’s forgotten secrets and confront titanic challenges on your expedition.
As a passionate game designer, I can’t help but express my excitement when I think about Eternal Strands. The buzz around this game was electrifying during Gamescom, as media and content creators finally got to experience our exclusive demo firsthand.
Additionally, a fresh 2D trailer for Eternal Strands is on its way, showcasing a 2D animated backdrop. This sneak peek will offer fans the initial view of the game’s opening scene, accompanied by music from renowned composer Austin Wintory. Furthermore, it will highlight some pivotal instances beautifully animated by hand, reminiscent of Du Coup’s work on Sea of Stars.
In recent times, there’s been an increasing pattern of turning popular films and games into animated TV series. Examples such as Castlevania, Cyberpunk, Arcane (which has significantly influenced us), and many more come to mind, according to Sebastien Primeau, art director on Eternal Strands. To provide a diverse and immersive visual experience for our players, we chose a 2D format. Working with the studio Du Coup was an exhilarating adventure, as we sought to merge our in-game aesthetics with the animated style. I think we’ve effectively combined these two formats. For me, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to highlight and honor the talent of other Quebec studios. Who knows? Perhaps one day, we’ll have our own Eternal Strands series—it would be a dream realized.
Additionally, Yellow Brick Games revealed that the game’s interface and captions will be translated into Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese for a more inclusive gaming experience worldwide.
