Microsoft’s price hikes aren’t just affecting customers; the cost of Xbox development kits is also increasing.
The Verge reports, based on sources, that Xbox development kits are getting more expensive. The price is expected to increase from $1,500 to $2,000, and this change will affect developers worldwide, not just in the U.S.
Microsoft explained to developers, through The Verge, that the price change is due to the current economic climate. They also reaffirmed their dedication to supporting developers with excellent tools and resources.
The price is now $2,000, which is a 33% increase from the previous price. This follows a similar pricing pattern Microsoft has used for Xbox consoles since 2020. This change also happens shortly after Microsoft raised the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate by 50%.
TopMob has contacted Microsoft to ask about the higher price of Xbox development kits. We will update this article if Microsoft provides a statement.
