Everspace 2’s Next Expansion Brings a New, Deadly Ship

Everspace 2 recently unveiled a comprehensive look at the Wraith spaceship’s arrival as part of the Wrath of the Ancients expansion. This upcoming DLC content also hints at broadening the storyline and locations within Everspace 2, along with other exciting new features.

Originating from German game developer Rockfish Games, the action RPG titled “Everspace 2” was first released for PC in April 2023, followed by launches on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 in August of the same year. Critically acclaimed, the game earned a “Strong” rating on OpenCritic based on an average score of 83 and a 94% reviewer recommendation rate. The first expansion following its launch, named “Titans”, was unveiled in September 2024.

Rockfish Games has unveiled another DLC for Everspace 2, titled Wrath of the Ancients. After announcing this expansion, the developers have now released a video preview focusing on a new ship in Everspace 2 – the Wraith. This unique spacecraft won’t be available for purchase from dealers but will instead be obtainable only within the expansion. The Wraith is designed as a medium/heavy Okkar fighter, fitting well into any fleet operated by the reptilian race.

New Everspace 2 Ship Will Have a Semi-Corporeal State

The ship’s color can be personalized using accents, and it will also sync with the cybernetic illumination feature from the Everspace 2 Supporter Pack. However, altering its physical structure through modules isn’t possible because the Wraith is a distinctive craft. Unlike other aspects, the ship’s passive abilities are predefined rather than random. The weapons and stats of the Wraith in Everspace 2, as Rockfish Games stated, make it ideal for high-stakes, high-reward combat scenarios. In tough situations, the Wraith can activate its Spectral Form, turning into a partially ethereal state that causes its hull to deteriorate while simultaneously boosting its damage output and replacing its devices with unique special abilities. Once the hull reaches zero, this mode deactivates, and the ship’s health is fully restored.

In addition to the “Wrath of the Ancients” DLC, you’ll receive an update that includes an extra hangar slot in the main game. This update also aims to resolve several bugs found within the game. The expansion offers a fresh storyline, new types of enemies and bosses, as well as Okkar equipment. Four additional star systems are included in the package, along with more crafting blueprints and an expanded soundtrack.

The game titled “Wrath of the Ancients” is scheduled to drop sometime in spring 2025. At this point, it remains undetermined if this will be the concluding expansion for “Everspace 2”. Given the price range of the “Titans” DLC, one can expect “Wrath of the Ancients” to cost approximately $14.99.
