Every Feature Confirmed for Fantasian Neo Dimension So Far

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the upcoming release of Fantasian: Neo Dimension has me genuinely excited. Coming from Mistwalker, the creators behind some of my all-time favorite JRPGs like Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, I’ve got high expectations for this title.

The game titled “Fantasian: Neo Dimension” is a re-launch of the highly praised RPG from 2021, simply known as “Fantasian”. Developed by Mistwalker, a Japanese-American company renowned for creating beloved JRPGs such as “Blue Dragon”, “Lost Odyssey”, and “The Last Story”, this game initially launched on Apple Arcade for iOS and macOS. However, the new version of the game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on December 5, 2024. Notably, “Fantasian: Neo Dimension” marks Mistwalker’s debut on a PlayStation console after 20 years in the industry.

As a dedicated fan, I must say that unlike my anticipation for remakes like Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance and Persona 5 Royal, which have significant updates, Fantasian: Neo Dimension seems to be more of an homage to the original game. This enhanced version of Mistwalker’s JRPG only makes slight adjustments to the core gameplay, unlike other re-releases that offer new storylines and extensive gameplay mechanics not found in the initial Fantasian. However, it’s worth noting that while there isn’t any additional story content or major features, the tweaks and enhancements in Fantasian: Neo Dimension are certainly notable.

Fantasian: Neo Dimension Makes a Handful of Noteworthy Changes to the Original Game

Fantasian: Neo Dimension Supports Up to 4K Resolutions on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC

One key feature that sets Fantasian: Neo Dimension apart is its enhanced resolution compatibility. Originally developed for mobile devices, the original Fantasian wasn’t optimized to run at high resolutions, particularly on iPhones. However, with its console release, it will now be able to leverage modern hardware fully. On PS4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms, Fantasian: Neo Dimension promises 4K graphics for compatible screens. While the game will run at 60 frames per second (FPS), Square Enix has yet to specify whether older systems like last-gen PS4 and low-spec Xbox Series S can handle both 4K resolution and 60 FPS simultaneously.

English and Japanese Voiceovers Are Some of the Highlights of Fantasian: Neo Dimension

In contrast to its prior version, Fantasian: Neo Dimension introduces voiceovers as a new feature. Every scene within the game will now be accompanied by full voice acting, including most optional dialogues. However, certain scenes may still not have voiceovers. The game will be available in both English and Japanese dialects, allowing players to switch between languages according to their preference. The absence of voiceovers in the original game was a significant point of criticism, which might have been due to budgetary or technical limitations. Now that Fantasian is equipped with proper voice overs, its narrative is expected to provide a more immersive experience.

Fantasian: Neo Dimension Features Music from the Final Fantasy Series

In the upcoming release of “Fantasian: Neo Dimension,” published by Square Enix, you might anticipate some familiar elements from the “Final Fantasy” series. Notably, Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of “Final Fantasy,” and Nobuo Uematsu, its composer, are both involved in this game. Reflecting this connection, the new edition is set to include additional content related to “Final Fantasy.” In “Fantasian: Neo Dimension,” players will have the opportunity to personalize the game’s soundtrack and select from a variety of “Final Fantasy” songs to play during combat. Square Enix has confirmed that music from “FF16,” “FF7 Remake,” “FF7 Rebirth,” “FF14: Endwalker,” “FF14: Dawntrail,” and the “FF Pixel Remasters” will be included in the game.

Players Will Have the Option to Lower the Difficulty in Fantasian: Neo Dimension

To wrap things up, but definitely not to be overlooked, the revamped edition of “Fantasian: Neo Dimension” will offer an easy mode. The original “Fantasian”, harkening back to the 90s, was a classic JRPG with a challenging edge. Much like many games from that era, it wasn’t for the faint-hearted; boss fights could swiftly eliminate an entire party if they weren’t adequately prepared. However, fear not if you found “Fantasian” too tough to handle! The new version provides a more relaxed “Normal” difficulty setting. For those who thrive on a good fight, the “Hard” mode in “Fantasian: Neo Dimension” maintains its original level of difficulty.
