Every Feature Confirmed for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP So Far

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for quirky and unique titles, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Having fond memories of the original back in 2012, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the prospect of revisiting this cult classic.

Originally launched in June 2012, the game titled Lollipop Chainsaw was created by Goichi Suda’s studio, Grasshopper Manufacture. Collaborating with Suda, the renowned Hollywood writer and director James Gunn also contributed to the scripting of this game. Interestingly, elements from the game’s design and mechanics can be seen in Gunn’s portrayal of Harley Quinn in The Suicide Squad. Upon its release, Lollipop Chainsaw received mixed reviews; however, it has since developed a dedicated fanbase due to its distinctive concept. Now, the 2012 cult favorite is set for a remastered version.

Entitled “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP”, this revamped version is being worked on by Dragami Games, and it’s been reported that neither Goichi Suda nor James Gunn are participating in its development. However, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP appears to be a promising remaster, packed with numerous new and refined elements that should engage fans upon its release on September 12.

Every Major Feature and Change Coming to Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

Features Changed From Lollipop Chainsaw’s Original Release

From the modifications and adjustments in the features that Dragami is making compared to the initial version of the game, it’s evident that they aim for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP to be highly user-friendly and accessible. Enhanced camera and input responses will make the gameplay of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP feel smoother, while automatically setting Quick-Time Events as default will certainly give it a more contemporary feel.

It’s also great to see Dragami tweak the balancing of the Zombie Baseball minigame, an infamously difficult element in its original iteration. The extra quality-of-life tweaks such as increasing the ammo for the Chainsaw Blaster and improving the Nick Roulette abilities are also sure to be subtle but worthwhile changes that long-time fans of the game will notice.

The rebranded game, RePOP from Lollipop Chainsaw, is set to sell at $44.99. This price point could be perceived as somewhat high for a remastered title.

While quality-of-life changes are great to see, it’s Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP‘s new features that are going to draw fans back in. As should be expected from any remaster, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP will feature updated visuals and resolutions on all platforms, along with higher frame rates on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.

Two fresh gaming experiences are being introduced in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. Firstly, there’s the main feature, RePOP Mode, that imbues the game with a vibrant pop art aesthetic, noticeably enhancing the visual impact of the damage effects. Secondly, we have Real Time Attack, a mode where players are tasked with completing the six levels as swiftly as they can. Their speed will be ranked on a global leaderboard.

In the revamped version of “Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP”, players can anticipate a variety of fresh collectibles. Among these are four distinct chainsaws, each conferring unique abilities on our heroine Juliet. For instance, one chain might boost her Gold Medal chances, while another could make zombies focus their attacks on the player instead of other survivors. In addition to new costumes and hair colors, the remastered edition will also offer a completely revamped soundtrack featuring original tunes. The licensed music from the original “Lollipop Chainsaw” has been swapped out for this fresh selection.
