It’s likely that fans of GreedFall have been eagerly awaiting various aspects of GreedFall 2: The Dying World, but a significant portion of their excitement might revolve around the new characters who could join them on their journey. This heightened interest is largely due to the significant role companions played in the storyline and overall success of the first game, making it natural for fans to be curious about what fresh companions GreedFall 2 might introduce.

So far, only five companions in GreedFall 2 have been unveiled, but there are eight characters planned for reveal during the game’s early access phase. Currently, Nilan, Fausta, Sybille, Alvida, and Ludwig will join the player within the existing early-access content. However, an additional three companions are yet to be introduced in the game by the end of the winter season.

GreedFall 2’s First Five Companions Explained

Nilan Is a Fierce Doneigad and a Close Friend of the Protagonist

In the game “GreedFall 2: The Dying World,” Nilan stands out as one of the significant companions. This is largely because of his longstanding friendship with Vriden Gerr, the player character and protagonist of the game. Since they were kids, these two have been friends, and in the initial stages of “GreedFall 2,” they are both en route to their Doneigad initiation. As for Nilan’s character, he is a strong-willed and headstrong individual driven by his convictions. Being from Teer Fradee and a Doneigad, he feels deeply responsible for the welfare of his people and their island. His impulsive actions sometimes lead to troubles, but his unwavering loyalty towards his people is second to none, making him slow to trust others.

Fausta Was Banished and Is Now a Spy in Olima

In the initial stages of GreedFall 2, players might encounter Fausta, another valuable ally. As long as you follow the main storyline closely, she’ll make an appearance. Born in Theleme, she was banished and imprisoned due to her unusual ability to witness things that others were not meant to see. This is how Vriden Gerr meets her in Olima’s prison. Fausta can be aptly described as a master of disguise, given her knack for adapting her personality to fit different situations, which might earn her the label of a “smooth operator” or “chameleon.

Generally speaking, Fausta tends to be reserved and prefers solitude, primarily because she’s living as an elusive fugitive.

Sybille Is a Member of the De Vespe Family Who Is Slow to Trust Others

In GreedFall 2, Sybille will cross paths with players shortly after their encounter with Fausta, as she orchestrates the escape of Vriden Gerr, Nilan, and Fausta from prison. Sybille is a member of the De Vespe family, similar to GreedFall’s De Sardet in that she was once a Legate of the Merchants’ Congregation. Unlike most companions in GreedFall 2, Sybille is primarily focused on business matters. This makes her reserved, much like Nilan, as her trust is not easily bestowed. She also projects an air of self-assurance, which can sometimes be perceived as arrogance by those unfamiliar with her, and she often finds humor in even the most serious situations.

Alvida Is an Honest but Defiant Naut of Conviction

In their initial interaction, Alvida forms a bond with Sybille and Fausta swiftly in prison. Alvida, a close friend of Sybille’s and a Naut known for her unwavering commitment to righteousness, immediately shows her kindness, even if it means risking her reputation or wealth. Alvida’s fierce determination for justice often leads her to challenge oppressive and morally bankrupt authority figures. Despite being a Naut, she is not solely loyal to her faction; instead, injustice is something she cannot abide by. As a result, when Vriden Gerr and Nilan are captured on the ship where Alvida serves as crew member, she chooses to abandon her comrades to rescue the native inhabitants of Teer Fradee, hoping to make amends for any role she may have played in their capture.

Ludwig Is a Sarcastic Former Soldier of the Deutan Empire

In the sequel to GreedFall, Ludwig is another character players will encounter shortly after arriving in Olima. As a smuggler, he’s well-versed in every hidden path between Olima and Deutan, making him an instant asset to Vriden Gerr and Nilan following their prison escape. His character combines elements of Kevin Costner’s Robin Hood and Harrison Ford’s Han Solo, with a good deal of dry wit and a strong sense of justice. Ludwig is deeply concerned about the plight of the poor, constantly advocating for them to be compensated for the hardships they face at the hands of the wealthy.
