LEGO fans, be warned: March 1st is likely to be an expensive day! A huge range of new sets are coming out – from display pieces and small playsets to tempting builds you didn’t know you needed. Expect everything from everlasting flowers and multiple Batmobiles to advanced Star Wars creations, meaning your bank account could take a serious dent next month.
LEGO Botanicals Continue to Be a Silent Wallet Killer
Okay, so LEGO’s Botanical Collection has totally sucked me in lately, and I just built the Sunflower Bouquet (#11502). It costs sixty bucks and has almost 700 pieces, which sounds like a lot, but it’s actually pretty reasonable. You get six sunflowers at different stages – some are budding, some are fully open – and you can even adjust the stems and petals to get them looking just right. Seriously, it stands over a foot tall when you have it all set up, and it looks amazing anywhere you put it. I was honestly surprised by how good it looks for the price!
The Magnolia Branches set (#11510) is another incredibly appealing option, and might even be more tempting. It costs $49.99 and includes 435 pieces, focusing on intricate details and creative building techniques – like using cupcake pieces to form flower parts and cleverly disguising frogs as knots in the wood. Standing over 15.5 inches tall and 17 inches wide, this set is more of a beautiful display model than a toy.
LEGO City Goes Big With Trains and Formula One
LEGO City offers a variety of building sets this March, but the highlight is the Police Train Heist (#60508). This set, which includes 1,313 pieces and costs $199.99, features a functioning train with a locomotive and three cars, plus an oval track, a helicopter, and six minifigures. It’s a large, action-packed set designed for creative, chaotic play.
If you’re looking for a smaller set, the LEGO® F1 Display Truck with Audi F1 Race Car (#60493) offers a realistic racing experience for $44.99. This 508-piece set features a detailed Audi F1 car, a transport truck with a lift, and minifigures of the pit crew. It’s an easy and satisfying build, perfect for racing enthusiasts who want a display piece that doesn’t take up too much space.
Batman Fans Are Getting Flooded With Options
March can be a tough month for LEGO DC collectors, particularly with the upcoming release of the LEGO Batman: Legacy of The Dark Knight set. The Batman Logo (#76330) is a beautiful display piece that costs $79.99 and contains 678 pieces. It includes removable DC-themed accessories and comes with two Batman minifigures, one of which is a special gold anniversary edition. This set is clearly meant to be shown off on a shelf, not played with, and it looks amazing because of that.
LEGO is releasing a lot of Batmobile sets! There’s the Batman v Superman Batmobile (#76331), The Batman Batmobile (#76332), and Batman & Robin Batmobile (#76333), all priced at $29.99. They each have between 220 and 330 pieces. While they might seem a little small, each set includes a special golden coin, which makes them appealing to collectors – and might tempt you to buy them all!
Disney and Pixar Sets Aim Straight for Nostalgia
LEGO Disney is successfully tapping into nostalgia with its products, and the latest example is a set inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas. The Sally’s Flowerpot set (#43288) costs $49.99 and contains 346 pieces. It’s a charming display piece that includes a Sally minifigure, along with details like nightshades, a pumpkin, and a black cat. While not a huge build, it’s a must-have for fans of the film.
Pixar collectors will love the new Kevin & Dug building set (#43290), priced at $59.99. This 628-piece set lets you build the characters from the movie Up, complete with a display stand and fun accessories like the Adventure Book and Dug’s cone. It makes a surprisingly impressive display piece, as Kevin stands over 11.5 inches tall.
Winnie the Pooh Gets the Premium Treatment
This March, LEGO is releasing two new Winnie the Pooh sets inspired by the Hundred Acre Wood. The larger set features a brick-built Pooh Bear (#43300) with movable arms and legs, and it costs $149.99. Made of 1,399 pieces, Pooh includes a Hunny pot with secret compartments and miniature figures inside. While charming, it’s a bit expensive and seems geared more towards adult collectors.
If you’re looking for a smaller, more affordable LEGO set for kids, consider Piglet’s Birthday Fun (#43305), which costs $39.99 and has 544 pieces. You can build a posable Piglet figure and a birthday cake that opens up to reveal Pooh’s house and the Hundred Acre Wood. It’s a great option that’s not as big of a project as some other sets, and it pairs nicely with the larger Pooh set.
Sports Icons and LEGO Originals Raise the Price Ceiling
Many new LEGO sets released this March are quite expensive. For example, the life-size replica of the FIFA World Cup Trophy, set number #43020, costs $199.99 and contains 2,842 pieces. It’s designed to be a showpiece, aimed at collectors who want a striking conversation starter.
At the other end of the price range, the Up-Scaled Blue Astronaut Minifigure (#43020) costs $59.99 and celebrates LEGO’s past. This model, built from 793 pieces, is inspired by the classic space minifigures from 1984 and is a nostalgic treat for longtime LEGO fans.
Icons, Cats, and Literary Sci-Fi Make Their Case
I have to say, the little London Bus (#40953) is just adorable! For only $19.99 and with 245 pieces, it’s a really charming little build – the wheels actually turn and it even comes with route stickers! It’s the kind of thing you don’t need, but suddenly have to have. And if you’re an animal person like me, prepare to fall for the Orange Cat (#21376)! It’s a bigger build at $99.99 and 1,755 pieces, but it’s amazing how poseable it is – you can really adjust its posture, expression, and even its tail!
As a huge fan of Project Hail Mary, I was so excited to see it become a LEGO set! For $99.99, you get 830 pieces to build this awesome display piece. But it’s not just about looks – it actually has a working centrifugal gravity system, which is pretty cool for a LEGO set! Of course, it also includes minifigures of Ryland Grace and Rocky, making it a total must-have for anyone who loves the book or just great sci-fi.
NINJAGO Celebrates 15 Years With a Titan
Image via LEGO The Lloyd’s Titan Mech 15th Anniversary set (#71860) is a large and impressive build with 1,293 pieces, priced at $129.99. This updated version of a popular mech features improved armor, greater movement, and a huge sword and shield. The shield cleverly transforms into wings, making it fun to play with and great to display. It comes with minifigures of Lloyd and Grimfax, connecting the build to the world of NINJAGO and making it a special commemorative set.
Formula Racing Expands With F1 Academy
Image via LEGO The LEGO F1 Academy Race Car (#77258) is a great addition to LEGO’s collection of motorsport sets. For just $27.99, this 201-piece set includes a female minifigure driver complete with a helmet, hair, and wrench. Even though it’s a smaller build, details like the Pirelli tires make it feel like a real race car. It’s perfect for young builders or collectors who want an affordable, cool-looking car without needing a huge display piece.
SMART Play Star Wars Is an Entire Section of Trouble
The LEGO Star Wars SMART Play collection is large and can be quite pricey, with sets designed to encourage continued collecting. Prices range from $39.99 for Luke’s Landspeeder (set #75420) to $159.99 for the impressive Throne Room Duel & A-Wing (set #75427), which includes lights, sounds, and features that respond to play.
Key sets like the Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter, Millennium Falcon, and Mos Eisley Cantina all feature building sections that connect and updated minifigures. It’s a bold and innovative approach, but be warned – once you start collecting, it’s hard to stop!
Zelda Brings It All Home
Image via LEGO Rounding out our March releases is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – The Final Battle (item #77093), priced at $129.99. This 1,003-piece set is designed for display and features Ganon’s ruined castle, along with minifigures of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf, and a brick-built Ganon figure.
The game includes fun details like secret collectibles and a button-activated Ganondorf figure, but it’s the loving references to the original Ocarina of Time that truly make it stand out. For fans of Ocarina of Time, this is a must-have, especially since it includes a special version of the Deku Tree minifigure, completing the core set of characters.
March LEGO Madness
As a LEGO fan, I’m already bracing myself for March! It looks like there’s going to be something for everyone – little sets for a quick treat, some cool mid-size builds, and even huge, impressive sets that you really have to save up for. No matter what you’re into – plants, Batman, cars, or Star Wars with a high-tech twist – LEGO has planned a fantastic lineup. Honestly, it’s going to be hard to resist buying something! I’m definitely setting aside some money now and making space on my shelves. I might even need to practice saying, “It was a limited release!” because March is coming up fast!
