As a seasoned survivor of the zombie apocalypse, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the iconic weapons in 7 Days To Die, especially the AK-47 Machine Gun, Tactical Assault Rife, and the mighty M60 Machine Gun.
7 Days to Die has me hooked with its intricate tower defense and base-building mechanics, top-notch cooperative mode, and nail-biting combat – making it one of the finest zombie survival games available today. Given its impressive 11-year journey in early access, continually refined and honed to perfection, this isn’t a surprise at all!
In many 7 Days To Die gameplay experiences, machine guns serve a similar purpose as assault rifles in other games, offering a balance of damage, range, controllable recoil, and reasonable accuracy. These weapons function effectively both indoors and outdoors on the game’s open-world map. Additionally, they are highly effective when used during a blood moon night.
4 Pipe Machine Gun
The Best Pipe Weapon
- Weapon stats (tier 6):
- Ranged damage: 37.5
- Magazine size: 15
- Rounds per minute: 335
- Effective range: 34
- Maximum durability: 200
- Crafting requirements (tier 5):
- Short Iron Pipe: 12
- Glue: 6
- Wood: 18
In the survival game “7 Days To Die,” the Pipe Machine Gun stands out as the top choice among fundamental pipe-based weapons due to its unexpected effectiveness. When compared to other weapons like the pipe pistol, shotgun, and rifle, it proves itself quite formidable. Given its affordability when crafted, new players should prioritize this weapon as their initial ranged option in the game.
In the initial stages, a Pipe Machine Gun may not be ideal due to its ammunition – 7.62 rounds are scarce to find and costly to produce. However, if you can consistently provide this weapon with ammo, it’s quite effective at handling low-level mission Points of Interest (POIs).
Recommended Pipe Machine Gun Build
Having spent countless hours battling hordes of zombies in various survival games, I can confidently say that this early-game trader mission build is a game-changer. This weapon setup, while not necessarily your main firearm if you’re ammo-wealthy, serves as an excellent backup to a melee weapon like a club, especially for taking down groups of the undead. Interestingly, it avoids using the drum mag, a decision that helps conserve valuable resources, making it a smart choice for those who want to stretch their ammunition as far as possible in these survival-of-the-fittest scenarios.
- Muzzle Break Mod (decreased recoil)
- Reflex Site (great for use indoors)
- Cripple Em Mod (slows down zombies on hit)
- Standard 7.62 ammo (the cheapest)
3 AK-47 Machine Gun
Iconic Assault Rifle
- Weapon stats (tier 6):
- Ranged damage: 49.9
- Magazine size: 30
- Rounds per minute: 360
- Effective range: 43
- Maximum durability: 400
- Crafting requirements (tier 5):
- Machine gun parts: 5
- Forged iron: 50
- Duct Tape: 10
- Srap Polymers: 50
- Spring: 10
7 Days To Die certainly delivers on its rendition of the classic AK-47 assault rifle in zombie survival games. Despite being classified as a secondary weapon within the game, the AK-47 Machine Gun is often preferred by players over more sophisticated choices, reflecting real-world circumstances quite accurately.
For optimal performance with the AK-47 Assault Rifle, it’s advisable to use short, controlled bursts rather than continuous firing due to its high rate of fire but occasional lack of precision when fully automatic.
Recommended AK-47 Machine Gun Build
Based on my years of outdoor adventure, I’ve come to appreciate versatile equipment that can handle various environments. This general-purpose build seems to fit that bill, as it’s suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. However, its limitations in terms of long-range scope and aimed stabilization may not be ideal for my specific needs, as I often find myself in situations requiring precision and stability over greater distances. Nonetheless, it could still serve as a handy tool for those who don’t require such features, or for casual use around the house or local park.
- Muzzle Break Mod (decreased recoil)
- Reflex Site (great for use indoors)
- Rad Remover Mod (slows down zombies on hit)
- Drum Magazine Mod (doubles magazine size)
- Standard 7.62 ammo (the cheapest)
2 Tactical Assault Rifle
Better Fire Control
- Weapon stats (tier 6):
- Ranged damage: 66.2
- Magazine size: 30
- Rounds per minute: 405
- Effective range: 51
- Maximum durability: 700
- Crafting requirements (tier 5):
- Machine gun parts: 5
- Forged iron: 50
- Duct Tape: 15
- Srap Polymers: 25
- Spring: 15
As an enthusiast, I’d say it seems like the Tactical Assault Rifle in 7 Days To Die is a noticeable improvement over the AK-47 Machine Gun on paper. Yet, it has its weakness – it comes with a default burst fire mode. Previously, this tier 6 weapon offered six mod slots, allowing for a full auto mode to be installed. However, an update cut down the maximum number of mods to just four.
After a player becomes accustomed to firing just three rounds in each burst, that specific assault rifle will prove to be more accurate and controlled compared to the AK-47. Additionally, it excels at long distances, which puts it among the top weapons within the game.
Recommended Tactical Assault Rifle Build
As a versatile gamer, I’ve found that assault rifles serve as the ultimate multi-purpose weapon in my arsenal. They’re perfect for a well-rounded playstyle, and this build is no exception. It boasts an enhanced scope compared to the classic AK-47, making it even more effective in various gaming scenarios.
- Muzzle Break Mod (decreased recoil)
- 2 x Scope (good for indoors and outdoors)
- Rad Remover Mod (slows down zombies on hit)
- Drum Magazine Mod (doubles magazine size)
1 M60 Machine Gun
Blood Moon Meat Grinder
- Weapon stats (tier 6):
- Ranged damage: 87.1
- Magazine size: 60
- Rounds per minute: 440
- Effective range: 60
- Maximum durability: 1100
- Crafting requirements (tier 5):
- Machine gun parts: 5
- Forged iron: 100
- Duct Tape: 15
- Srap Polymers: 50
- Spring: 20
In simpler terms, the M60 Machine Gun serves as an exceptional choice for advanced stages in the game, akin to a powerful weapon under the moonlight. While not exactly like Puff the Magic Dragon, it comes close to being the game’s version of a minigun. When equipped with suitable modifications, it can inflict 100 points of damage per shot and carries a large magazine holding up to 90 rounds.
In this zombie-survival shooter, I’ve found the Heavy Sniper Rifle quite handy for tackling Level 6 missions with swarms of zombies. However, its slow reload speed can be a bit tricky in such high-intensity situations. Yet, it’s beneficial to have it readily available on my control panel as a surprise attack weapon when the undead horde approaches.
Recommended M6 Machine Gun Build
As a seasoned survivor who has faced countless hordes of the undead, I can confidently say that this build is perfect for those looking to unleash havoc on the zombie masses. This isn’t your typical sniper setup; it’s all about the close-quarters combat. The M60, a reliable and powerful weapon, may not have a scope, but that doesn’t make it any less deadly. When aiming at the general level of the horde’s heads, you’ll find yourself mowing down zombies with ease. Just remember to reload as needed, because in this post-apocalyptic world, ammunition is a precious resource.
- Barrel Extender Mod (increased damage but worse recoil and range)
- Bipod Mod (increased accuracy whilst aiming down sights)
- Rad Remover Mod (removes zombie radiation effect)
- Drum Mod (increases magazine by 30)
