Every Main Cast Member & Character In The Harry Potter Full-Cast Audiobooks

Summary

  • Full-cast Harry Potter audiobooks with effects, music, and 200+ voice actors bring the books to life.
  • A star-studded cast blends big names (Hugh Laurie, Riz Ahmed, Keira Knightley) with rising child actors.
  • All seven full-cast audiobooks release Nov 2025–May 2026, with one new title each month.

Fans of Harry Potter can now experience the books in a completely new way with a full-cast audiobook series. Featuring over 200 voice actors, along with sound effects and music, these audiobooks are brought to life by a talented cast, including several well-known actors who deliver truly outstanding performances.

The project is a fantastic opportunity for many new voice actors to gain experience. Most students worked with two different actors – one for the first three books and another for the final four. Throughout the entire series, Cash Jumbo provides consistent narration, lending a serious and impactful tone to the magical details and Harry’s thoughts.

Main Cast & Characters For The Harry Potter Full-Cast Audio Books

Below is a list of characters and the actors who voiced them, generally ordered by how often they appear in the books. However, some characters appear prominently in specific books even if they aren’t mentioned as much overall – Gilderoy Lockhart is a great example. Kit Harrington, who voiced him, had a lot of lines in The Chamber of Secrets because Lockhart never stops talking!

There are still some uncertainties. We anticipate, for instance, that some of the younger actors may be replaced starting with the fourth book and in future installments.

This isn’t a complete list, as there are many other, smaller details – some of which don’t show up until later in the series.

Harry Potter

Frankie Treadaway & Jaxon Knopf

Besides the narrator, Cash Jumbo, Frankie Treadaway and Jaxon Knopf have the most significant roles. They both play Harry Potter in the audiobooks, with Frankie voicing the character for the first three books and Jaxon taking over for the remaining ones.

Although we’ve only seen small parts of Jaxon’s performance, Frankie Treadaway is already impressing audiences. They deliver a moving performance and suggest the character’s signature wit, which fans of the book will appreciate.

Ron Weasley

Max Lester & Rhys Mulligan

I always loved how the Weasleys sounded – they’re from Devon, so they have this lovely West Country accent that really brings their characters to life! Max Lester was brilliant as Ron in the first three books, and then Rhys Mulligan stepped in to play him starting with The Goblet of Fire, and he did a fantastic job for the rest of the series. It’s great how they both brought so much to the role!

Max Lester has delivered excellent performances in the first two audiobooks, really showcasing how much richer Ron’s character is in the books compared to the movies, where he was often just used for laughs. The two young actors haven’t had many roles yet, so this could be a fantastic start to their careers.

Hermione Granger

Arabella Stanton & Nina Barker-Francis

Arabella Stanton is remarkably playing Hermione Granger in both the audiobooks and the new HBO Harry Potter series, and with good reason – she seems like a natural fit. Even a single line of her dialogue proves she’s perfect for the role.

I’m so excited to hear about the future of the series! After Arabella, Nina Barker-Francis is going to be taking on the role of an older Hermione for the final four books. She’s already an experienced actress – I’ve seen she’s been in shows like Wolf King and The Jetty, and even had a part in House of the Dragon! That gives me a good idea of the kind of performance we can expect, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Albus Dumbledore

Hugh Laurie

Hugh Laurie is a major star among the impressive voice actors in the Harry Potter audiobooks, and he’s one of many actors who have played Albus Dumbledore. Known for his role in House, Laurie delivers a calm and faithful portrayal of Dumbledore – he’s not the type to scold Harry for entering the Triwizard Tournament.

He also has access to earlier recordings of the audiobooks. This is because he and Stephen Fry previously starred in their own television show, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, which was popular while Harry Potter was a child and at Hogwarts.

Rubeus Hagrid

Mark Addy

Mark Addy, famous for playing Robert Baratheon in Game of Thrones, is a standout as the voice of Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter audiobooks. He portrays the beloved half-giant as confident, cheerful, and powerfully protective of Dumbledore and Harry.

Mark Addy features prominently throughout the seven books, as Harry, Ron, and Hermione often visit the gamekeeper’s hut, giving fans ample opportunity to hear his character.
