Tommy Oliver gives a great performance as the Red Ranger, though some viewers were surprised when his character was taken over by TJ Johnson in the TV series. Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie features exciting action sequences and introduces a new villain, but ultimately doesn’t quite reach the level of a typical Power Rangers episode.

A lot of the criticism surrounding the Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie actually stems from issues with the original television series. Fans were disappointed by what felt like a step down in power, as the Zeo crystals – previously established as the most powerful tools in Power Rangers history – were quickly abandoned. Beyond that, the movie is often criticized for having a campy, low-budget feel that was common in earlier Power Rangers productions.

Most fans have a fuzzy recollection of the film, but it’s still the only official Power Rangers movie ever made. This makes it highly prized by fans old and new. It’s disappointing that no one has tried to make another movie with more care.
