The first big downloadable content pack for Borderlands 4, titled Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, is coming in March. This will add more content to the already action-packed game. Many players are excited about this, as the initial version of Borderlands 4 didn’t have a lot to do after completing the main story.
The new expansion, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, introduces C4SH, the fifth playable character in the game. As a Story Pack, it offers a significant amount of new story content. This differs from the game’s Bounty Packs, which primarily focus on short gameplay challenges and new items. Players haven’t been thrilled with the limited content in Bounty Pack 1, especially considering its price. Hopefully, Mad Ellie, with its more substantial additions, will be better received.
C4SH Is Coming to Borderlands 4 Via the Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned Expansion
Similar to previous games in the Borderlands series, Borderlands 4 lets you play as one of four different characters, called Vault Hunters. Each Hunter has their own special skills and ways to improve. These unique characters are a key part of what makes Borderlands 4 fun, and the new character C4SH looks particularly exciting.
C4SH started as a robotic dealer in a Kairos casino, but he decided he wanted a more exciting life as a Vault Hunter. However, he still seems to have a strong connection to gambling. Originally programmed to handle the risky behavior of casino customers, C4SH now appears to be obsessed with chance. This love of probability is central to how he plays – Gearbox describes his gameplay as “unpredictable,” with all of his abilities relying on luck in some way.
We’re still discovering the full potential of C4SH and how he’ll play in battles, but his unpredictable style looks very encouraging. Because C4SH relies heavily on chance, he’s a perfect fit as downloadable content for after the game’s release. He seems designed for players who already know Borderlands 4 well and are looking to try out new, experimental ways to play. Beyond his unique gameplay, C4SH has a cool cyber-goth look and an intriguing story, giving him the potential to add a lot to both the story and the combat in Borderlands 4.
Recently, games like Balatro and Clover Pit, which rely heavily on luck, have become very popular. It’s possible that the new game, C4SH, will borrow some ideas from this growing trend.
Mad Ellie and The Vault of the Damned Seems To Be Bringing Back Mancubus Bloodtooth
Mancubus Bloodtooth, the owner of The Lodge in Borderlands 3, narrates the trailer for Mad Ellie and The Vault of the Damned and makes a quick appearance in the video. Bloodtooth is a strange but friendly character; his Lodge is a safe place for players in the Guns, Love, and Tentacles expansion. However, another expansion showed that The Lodge isn’t stationary – it can move between places and even different galaxies, which is why it shows up in Mad Ellie.
Fans of Borderlands 3 know that the Guns, Love, and Tentacles expansion embraced creepy, cosmic horror with its setting and the cult worshipping the monster Gythian. However, it still kept the series’ signature humor. The new Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned expansion appears to be taking a more serious tone. Given that Bloodtooth and The Lodge have connections to these cosmic horrors, this expansion could offer genuinely frightening and unsettling experiences. It will be fascinating to see how these familiar elements are presented in a darker context.
Mad Ellie and The Vault of the Damned Is Bringing a Slew of New Gear to Borderlands 4
The most noticeable part of the Mad Ellie DLC is the new loot players can find. While the core of the expansion is the new story missions centered around C4SH and the Kairos region, the addition of new Legendary weapons, character outfits, and cosmetic items is just as important. The Borderlands series is known for its loot, and Mad Ellie adds even more gear to the already extensive collection in BL4.
