The next season of Last Epoch is launching next month, bringing with it a host of new features and improvements designed to make the game even better. With other popular action RPGs like Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 also constantly updating, Last Epoch is poised to begin a new phase in its development.
While Diablo 4 and Path of Exile 2 are the biggest names in this type of game, Last Epoch actually offers a better experience for several reasons. Compared to Diablo 4, Last Epoch lets you customize your character more, has better crafting, and gives you more satisfying rewards. And unlike Path of Exile 2, which can be really complicated to learn, Last Epoch is much easier to pick up and play. It strikes a great balance between the two, and the upcoming Season 4, with its Shattered Omens update, is set to make the game even better – it won’t be long before we can try it out!
Last Epoch Season 4, Shattered Omens, is slated to launch on March 26.
Every New Feature Coming to Last Epoch in Season 4, Shattered Omens
- Omen Windows
- Echo Chains
- Idol Altars
- Corrupted Items
- New Rogue skills
- Animation improvements
Omen Windows
Omen Windows are a significant new addition to the game Last Epoch. These are like rifts in reality, created by the powerful sadness of a character called The Observer. Breaking an Omen Window releases an Omen – a dangerous creature born from The Observer’s despair. While the Windows themselves are intimidating, the real challenge begins when players destroy them, unleashing waves of enemies alongside the powerful Omen. Last Epoch Season 3 already included improvements, but Omen Windows are taking the game’s action and difficulty to a whole new level.

Echo Chains
Echo Chains are a new addition to the Monolith system in Last Epoch. They create a series of connected challenges, unlocking harder difficulties with improved rewards. According to the developers at Eleventh Hour Games, each chain focuses on a specific gameplay mechanic. Players looking for a more demanding endgame experience in Last Epoch will find Echo Chains offer just that.
Each action sets off an unstoppable cascade of reactions. Choose yours wisely, Traveler.
Idol Altars
So, they’ve added this new item type that’s all tied to Omens – those tough enemies we fight. When you beat one, there’s a chance they’ll drop something called an Idol Altar. Basically, these are meant to add a lot more customization to our builds. They get their own slot above our regular Idol inventory and actually change how the Idol works. Honestly, figuring out the best builds in Last Epoch is already a lot of experimenting, and these Idol Altars look like they’re going to really shake things up and make build crafting even more interesting. I’m excited to try them out!
Corrupted Items
The upcoming season of Last Epoch introduces more than just Idol Altars. Players will also have access to Runes of Corruption, which let you alter almost any equippable item – including Idols! While these Runes are a fun addition, keep in mind that the results are completely random.
Two New Skills For Rogues to Try Out
- Bladestorm
- Shadow Rend
Bladestorm is a skill that rapidly throws spinning blades at enemies, dealing significant damage – hitting three times every second. Shadow Rend is a unique ability where a Rogue creates a temporary shadow of themselves, allowing the Rogue to continue attacking while the shadow also attacks with a bow or melee weapon. Players who enjoy the Rogue class in Last Epoch will have these two new skills available when Season 4 is released.
Upgraded Animations and Quality of Life Improvements Bring Even More to Last Epoch’s Exciting List of Season 4 Changes
The next update to Last Epoch will significantly improve the animations for the Primalist class. While a popular choice, Primalist animations have been in need of refinement. Season 4 will deliver a major overhaul, making combat feel smoother and more impactful. Eleventh Hour Games is aiming for animations that look more powerful and are easier to read during gameplay. This update should greatly enhance the experience for Primalist players who felt the original visuals were lacking.
Last Epoch is Teasing a Deep Well of Quality of Life Improvements
Eleventh Hour Games has previewed some of the improvements coming in the Season 4 update for Last Epoch. Players can look forward to enemies that react more dynamically to attacks, an enhanced Loot Filter, and a better tutorial for crafting. While these changes are already exciting, the developers have hinted at even more to come. The official Season 4 page promises many additional tweaks, and we can expect to learn more in the weeks leading up to the launch of the Shattered Omens content. Eleventh Hour Games may share further details before release, but they haven’t confirmed when.
With so many changes already revealed, it will be fascinating to see if Last Epoch has any more surprises in store with the Shattered Omens update. The game has improved dramatically since its initial release, and it’s great to watch it continue to grow and get even better. Last Epoch is already a top-tier action RPG, and after Shattered Omens launches, it will be interesting to see what the developers focus on next.
