Everything We Know About 007: First Light So Far, Including PS5 Pro FPS

Following several months of gossip and conjecture, the creators of the Hitman series, IO Interactive, have officially announced their new James Bond title, titled 007: First Light.

On IO Interactive’s YouTube channel, the unveiling video for the upcoming game has received generally favorable feedback, offering a glimpse into potential plotlines and game features it may contain.

As I dive deeper into the upcoming game, I’m discovering more and more about its technical prowess and the intriguing story aspects that weren’t shown in the first trailer.

What Is Confirmed So Far?

As a gaming enthusiast, I recently got some exciting inside scoop from Yann Roskell, the Senior Communications Manager at IO Interactive, about the upcoming expansion, 007: First Light. He spilled the beans on what we can expect!

In the novel “007 First Light,” we encounter a young and unseen version of James Bond. The story unfolds with Bond serving as a Navy airman, who, in the face of extraordinary circumstances, performs an incredibly brave deed that sets him on MI6’s toughest training regimen. Roskell describes it as a Bond you’ve never encountered before.

Additionally, Roskell guaranteed remarkable performance figures, mentioning that the game is expected to operate smoothly at a frame rate of 60 frames per second in Quality Mode on the upgraded PS5 console, leveraging PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology.

There’s been much discussion about who might play Bond next, and it appears that Patrick Gibson, known for his role in “Dexter: Original Sin,” could be a strong candidate. Also, expect to see familiar characters like M, Q, and Moneypenny reprising their roles in the franchise.

007: First Light, unlike the Hitman series, incorporates a new driving element for the first time, suggesting that the emphasis might shift towards action-adventure rather than solely stealth and deception.

Several stunning destinations are included as well, encompassing everything from elegant European chateaux nestled in the Alps, to the iconic James Bond Island located in Phuket, Thailand.

007: First Light is slated for a launch sometime in the year 2026, with the exact date or release window still undisclosed. The game will offer cross-platform compatibility, allowing players to enjoy it on systems like Xbox, PC, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
