Having grown up immersed in the rich lore and breathtaking vistas of the Dune universe, this open-world survival game promises to deliver a thrilling adventure that I simply cannot wait to embark on.
Among the numerous upcoming games generating anticipation, only a handful can match the grandeur and expanse of Dune Awakening. This highly anticipated open-world survival game is set in the world of Arrakis from the Dune saga, which is being developed by Funcom, the team behind Conan Exiles. It appears that Funcom might have another hit on their hands with this promising title. Here’s what we currently know about Dune Awakening!
What is Dune Awakening?
Dune Awakening is a third-person action-survival game set in the expansive world of Arrakis. You’ll traverse the boundless deserts in pursuit of Spice, venture into subterranean labs, and discover hidden mysteries nestled within vast canyon networks. To embark on such an audacious journey, players will be equipped with a range of abilities, talents, and weapons, many of which can be enhanced as gameplay progresses to unlock fresh content.
Over time, as you become stronger and battle various troops on land and in the air, you’ll establish a guild with the goal of seizing control over a House Minor. Not only that, but you’ll also have the opportunity to cultivate valuable Spice, which will significantly increase your House’s wealth.
Do We Know the Dune Awakening Release Date?
As of now, we’re unsure when Dune Awakening will officially be released. We’re hopeful that we’ll get more information soon, possibly at Gamescom, but it’s not certain that Funcom is ready to reveal a release date just yet. They’re currently in the process of arranging a playtest or two for the game.

Is Dune Awakening Multiplayer?
In simple terms, “Dune Awakening” is an online multiplayer game that includes survival features. The action takes place on a vast, ongoing universe where players must struggle to endure a harsh planet amidst competition with other gamers and non-player characters (NPCs). They will also work to grow a Minor House from humble origins.
It’s worth noting that there’s some ambiguity regarding the exact number of gamers per server in Dune Awakening. Although it’s marketed as a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, we’ve observed that the term ‘MMO’ is often used flexibly by developers and players alike.
Does Dune Awakening Have Character Customization?
As a passionate fan, I’m thrilled to share that Dune Awakening provides an expansive character customization arsenal. You can pick your body shape, height, complexion, age, intricate details like eyes, nose, and more, hairdos, facial art, makeup, and so many other options!
Based on the character creation trailer Funcom revealed in July, it appears the process is quite comprehensive. You’ll have the opportunity to mold a one-of-a-kind character, starting with a blank slate and shaping it into something extraordinary!
Is Dune Awakening Cross-Platform?
Since the release of Dune Awakening is happening at the same time on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, it’s a common query whether this game will be compatible across platforms. However, Funcom has yet to make an announcement about cross-platform play or crossplay for Dune Awakening.
It’s clear that the necessary technology exists, given how numerous other games currently offer cross-platform compatibility. However, whether or not Funcom has both the required resources and expertise to implement this feature prior to the game’s release is a question that remains to be answered.
Is Dune Awakening Free-to-Play?
It’s not very likely that Dune Awakening will debut as a free game to play. We believe it might cost $39.99 like Conan Exiles when it initially releases. However, given the scale and ambition of this project compared to their previous open-world survival game, there could be a slight increase in price.
