As someone who’s been around the MMO block a few times, I can tell you that the anticipation for New World: Aeternum is palpable. After dabbling in the original, I found myself yearning for more – but not without my fair share of frustrations due to the server performance issues.
There seems to be some uncertainty about the upcoming game titled “New World: Aeternum,” which Amazon Games has announced for release in October. Many people are unsure if it’s a new game altogether, an expansion pack, or a complete overhaul of the MMORPG. To help clarify things, let’s explore what we currently know about New World: Aeternum.
What is New World: Aeternum?
The game New World, developed by Amazon Games, has undergone a significant update called Aeternum. This update includes a reworked storyline, better dialogue and cutscenes, a massive area for player versus player combat, extra raid content, solo challenges, and numerous bug fixes and technical enhancements to make the game run more smoothly.
If you’re undecided about trying out New World, you might want to know that Aeternum offers a complete makeover, refining the fundamental aspects and gameplay for a smoother, more seamless, and enjoyable experience. It appears to be the perfect moment to dive into this MMO!
When Does New World: Aeternum Release?
In a nutshell: Aeternum, the new world, is set to debut on October 15 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you already own New World and its expansion Rise of the Angry Earth on your PC, you’ll get the update completely free of charge that day. There’s no need to purchase an extra copy of the game.
Is New World: Aeternum a New Game?
In essence, Aeternum in New World isn’t a completely fresh game, but rather an upgrade or overhaul of the original New World. This enhancement aims to significantly improve player experience and grant access to all existing content for those who purchase the relaunch. Notably, for the first time, New World will be playable on consoles, specifically the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Is New World: Aeternum Free to Play?
In other words, New World: Aeternum is not a free game; instead, players will need to purchase the title on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, if you already own the base game (New World) and its expansion (Rise of the Angry Earth) on PC, you’ll get the update for free on the launch day. If you don’t have the game or only own the base game, you’ll need to buy it. Similarly, if you own the base game but not the expansion, you must purchase Rise of the Angry Earth to access all the content in Aeternum.
Is New World: Aeternum Multiplayer?
In essence, while the fundamental MMORPG experience undergoes a significant overhaul, multiplayer continues to be the game’s central focus. New World: Aeternum promises an option for solo play, content tailored for small groups, and large-scale PvP encounters for players seeking end-game challenges.
Does New World: Aeternum Have Cross-Progression?
I regret to inform you that, as of now, New World: Aeternum does not support cross-progression. This means if you’d like to enjoy the game on multiple platforms such as PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S, you would need to buy separate copies for each device and create new characters on different servers.
Is New World: Aeternum Cross-Platform?
Absolutely thrilled! On October 15, I’ll be able to jump into New World: Aeternum with players from various platforms – PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S – thanks to day one cross-platform play! But, there’s a bit of ambiguity about whether all servers will cater to this interconnected experience or if we’ll find separate servers tailored for each platform.
What is the Difference With New World: Aeternum?
In the freshly unveiled world of Aternum, you’ll find numerous enhancements in performance and overall user experience, extra content, and immediate access to all content for both brand-new players and those who acquire a copy of the game, be it on one of the consoles. The new material encompasses:
- 10-Player Raid
- Pvp Zone
- Endgame Soul Trials
- Gear Score Increase to 725
- Matchmaking
- Crossworld Arenas
- Upleveled Cutlass Keys Zone (Quests, Enemies, Etc.)
- Swimming
- Performance and QOL Improvements
- Cinematic Storytelling
- Cross-Platform Play
- Player Archetypes
- Fresh Start Worlds
- Controller Support
- DX12 Rendering
- Combat Improvements
Is New World Worth Playing?
As a former ardent fan, I must confess that the game once held my heart captive for quite some time. However, as time went on, I found myself increasingly frustrated with numerous technical hiccups, particularly the inconsistent server performance that often spoiled my gaming experience. This led me to seek out alternative Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) that could offer a smoother and more enjoyable gaming journey.
During my gaming session, I had a great time immersing myself in the experience. The game boasts some of the finest crafting and gathering mechanics within its genre, and the fighting is quite engaging. I’m eagerly awaiting discovering any updates they’ve made for Aeternum. If you already own the game and its expansion, there’s no excuse to not grab Aeternum when it releases in October, to see what fresh content they’ve added!
