As a gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent moves by Evil Geniuses (EG) have truly piqued my interest. The addition of Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Jacob “icy” Lange to their VALORANT roster is a strategic move that promises excitement for the upcoming season.
Today, Evil Geniuses has officially welcomed Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker and Jacob “icy” Lange to their VALORANT team. These two players will be joining the returning members Derrek “Derrek”, Nicholas “NaturE”, and Phat “Supamen”.
After a slight setback in 2024 following their 2023 world championship win, EG has now recruited a player who was previously considered VALORANT’s top duelist.
Someone Cooked Here
The addition of icy was announced earlier in the day. icy played for G2 during the 2024 season, helping the roster core that qualified through Ascension reach the playoffs of Champions 2024. Coincidentally, icy was dropped this offseason in favor of the last remaining EG player from their Champions 2023 run, Alexander “jawgemo” Mor. Icy was also on the EG reserve roster in 2023.
During the offseason, Yay stepped in for Evil Geniuses in the Sen City Classic tournament. Interestingly, EG also participated at the event alongside Tyler “sym” Porter, but later returned to TSM in the Challengers league. Notably, upon joining Evil Geniuses, Yay felt that things fell into place quickly as he started playing with them, expressing that it clicked right away.
Due to the arrival of an icy rival, yay won’t be assuming the main duelist role he was previously renowned for. After the 2022 season, where yay proved his world-class skills as a duelist player for OpTic, he became a highly coveted team member by all partnered teams. However, things didn’t go smoothly for him with Cloud9 over the next two years. He subsequently left C9, had a disappointing stint with Disguised in NA Challengers, and then joined BLEED in the Pacific league in 2024.
The game BLEED has been entirely withdrawn from the VALORANT Champions Tour by Riot Games, primarily due to not meeting essential reporting requirements and other crucial obligations as stipulated in the TPA (Tournament Partner Agreement). This action is a part of a larger issue at BLEED which includes allegations of unpaid debts and legal issues concerning the CEO.
