EXCLUSIVE: Hell Let Loose Isn’t Going to The Pacific Theatre Anytime Soon

After the unveiling of Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, I recently had my initial playtime with the game and asked its creators about their reasons behind not setting the original game in the Pacific Theater yet.

In my opinion, there’s been a significant demand from the community for the Pacific Theater to be developed for some time, but so far, the creators haven’t managed to bring it to fruition. In fact, before I started working on Vietnam, I playfully asked the developers why they haven’t explored this direction yet.

It’s been in the works for several years that Hell Let Loose might expand to Vietnam as a separate title within the series. For those who aren’t familiar, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam will be developed simultaneously with the original game, meaning no resources are being diverted from it. So, if you enjoy the current version of the game, rest assured, its development will proceed at the same pace, offering new content as well.

80 developers are actively working on Hell Let Loose: Vietnam right now, compared to about 30 working on the original version. Yet, resources are not strictly divided between the two games, as some developers contribute to both projects depending on the specific needs of each game at any particular moment. The number of developers assigned to each game may vary accordingly.

Hell Let Loose: Pacific?

After experimenting with Hell Let Loose: Vietnam, I subsequently inquired about the developers’ plans for the Pacific Theater. They hinted that a shift of Hell Let Loose to the Pacific Theatre is plausible, though they didn’t elaborate on what such a transition might entail.

The team had discussed expanding Hell Let Loose to the Pacific Theatre, but this would probably involve creating an entirely new game rather than simply introducing a few new maps to the existing one.

In simpler terms, the discussion went on to point out that the Pacific Theater is marked by significant naval battles involving aircraft carriers and other elements, such as the Bushido code. It was emphasized that this theater offers a contrasting ambiance compared to the more earthbound battles depicted in Hell Let Loose, which were primarily set in Europe and Russia.

It strongly seems that a Pacific Theater expansion for Hell Let Loose might necessitate a separate game, providing players with fresh gameplay options while further developing the Hell Let Loose series. In essence, creating a new game from scratch is suggested due to the substantial resources required to adapt the original Hell Let Loose for the Pacific Theater, even with additional maps, weapons, and factions. Instead, it appears they aim to construct an entirely novel experience analogous to their work on Vietnam.

But ultimately, I was told that it all depends on what the community wants.

Perhaps, within the next 4-5 years, there could be an engaging and immersive expansion of the game Hell Let Loose, set in the Pacific Theatre, which many of us may have the opportunity to enjoy, assuming there’s demand from the gaming community!
