EXCLUSIVE: Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake Release Update

The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is coming sooner than some might think.

TopMob recently announced on its podcast, TopMob Weekly, that they have the release date for the remake of the 2003 action-adventure game.

When Is Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Releasing?

According to Tom Henderson of TopMob, Ubisoft originally intended to release the Prince of Persia remake before the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, and that plan hasn’t changed as of today.

Okay, so I’m hearing from people in the know that Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is finally targeting a release in mid-January 2026! Apparently, we might get a new look at the game during The Game Awards on December 11th, 2025 – that’s usually where they drop the official release date, so keep your eyes peeled!

The remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was first revealed in 2020, but its development hasn’t been smooth. Originally planned for release in January 2021, it was first pushed back to March 2021. Then, just a month before the March date, the release was delayed indefinitely.

Following a period of silence, Ubisoft announced in May 2022 that development of the game was being transferred to Ubisoft Montreal. The team at Montreal essentially started the game over, opting for a more realistic style with updated graphics, animations, and improved combat and parkour systems.

Two years after that, Ubisoft Toronto became involved in the game’s development, and the planned release date was set for 2026.
