Hideo Kojima has shared some fresh news about the upcoming game “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” which is currently slated for release around 2025. The sequel to the original “Death Stranding” was publicly presented at The Game Awards 2022, following its announcement a few months earlier, accompanied by a mysterious teaser that reintroduced characters like Sam Porter Bridges, Fragile, and Higgs. Last year, Kojima displayed an extensive story trailer, offering further insights into the plot and characters of “Death Stranding 2.”
Following the storyline from 2019’s “Death Stranding”, we find ourselves once more assuming the role of Sam, alongside Fragile, as they strive to reconnect a world devastated by a catastrophic event that introduced ghostly BDs. A new character, Tomorrow, portrayed by Elle Fanning, also joins them. Some fans speculate that she could be an older version of the baby Lou. Much about “Death Stranding 2” remains undisclosed, as it doesn’t yet have a specific release date beyond a tentative 2025 timeframe.
In a recent Twitter update, game creator Hideo Kojima posted a video showing him presenting a bouquet of flowers to actress Shioli Kutsuna, who portrays Rainy in Death Stranding 2. Kojima mentioned that these flowers were given as a token of appreciation after she completed her work on the project. This work encompassed 3D scanning, performance capture sessions in Los Angeles, and both English and Japanese voiceovers recorded at different locations. Furthermore, Kojima expressed his gratitude towards Kutsuna for her dedication, particularly during the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shioli Kutsuna Completes Her Work on Death Stranding 2
In the game Death Stranding: On the Beach, Rainy, portrayed by Shioli Kutsuna, isn’t well-understood yet, but Hideo Kojima had utilized her image for a lighting test some years back. Many Marvel enthusiasts remember Kutsuna as the mutant Yukio in Deadpool 2, and she has built an impressive career in Japanese television. For Death Stranding 2’s upcoming cast, Kutsuna will be joined by George Miller, renowned director of Mad Max, whose likeness is being employed for the Drawbridge captain character, and Fatih Akin, who lends his visage to the talking puppet that accompanies Sam on his new assignment.
Fans are eagerly anticipating when they can start playing Death Stranding 2 on their own, but since the game’s actors are finishing up their work, it suggests that development is going well. Nevertheless, it might take a while before Death Stranding 2: On the Beach reaches a stage where an official release date can be announced.
