EXCLUSIVE – US Retailer Documents Shed Light on Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Order Plans

It’s predicted that retailers might sell out their initial stock of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders on the first day, even though Nintendo is said to have amassed a substantial amount for the launch.

Based on internal correspondence and records shared with TopMob by a major U.S. retailer, it appears that they expect to run out of the Switch 2 stock on the very first day of pre-orders, as they’ve been allocated only a limited number of units from Nintendo.

Based on the records, it’s anticipated that the Switch 2 will hit the market in June. This month has been frequently speculated and extensively discussed among developers during this year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC).

Nevertheless, the documents provide some ambiguity regarding the start date of pre-orders, particularly after the Best Buy Canada announcement earlier this week suggesting they would become available on April 2nd.

Based on papers from an American retailer, it appears they’ll activate pre-orders on the 9th of April, a week following the Nintendo Switch 2 presentation. The documents outline a messaging plan that will follow this presentation, featuring “Pre-Order Available Soon” and a Countdown Clock, which will wind down to the 9th of April, with the precise time being announced by Nintendo on the 2nd of April.

The papers contained information about a unique collector’s coin that comes with the pre-order of the console, as well.

It’s uncertain if Best Buy Canada accidentally leaked the info or not, but they quickly took down the details once it was shared online. Regardless, it seems likely that pre-orders will become available within a week of the official release date.
