Okay, so if I’m hunting for Explosive Compound, I know to focus on three maps: Dam Battlegrounds, Spaceport, and Blue Gate. Those are the only ones that had Industrial and Security areas when the game first came out. It’s still random, and this stuff is super rare, so there’s no guarantee I’ll find it every time, but checking those areas on those maps definitely gives me the best shot. I basically need to really scour those Industrial and Security sites if I want to get my hands on some!
How To Craft Explosive Compound
Okay, so Explosive Compound is pretty rare when you’re scavenging topside, and you can’t always count on finding it. Luckily, you can actually make it yourself! All you need is two Crude Explosives and two Oil, and you’re good to go. It’s a lifesaver when you’re in a pinch and need some boom!
To make this item, you’ll first need to build a Refiner workstation and then upgrade it to level two. Upgrading requires three Toasters, five ARC Motion Cores, and eight Fireball Burners.

To get Explosive Compound, it’s best to search in specific areas on the Spaceport and Dam Battlegrounds maps. On Dam Battlegrounds, focus on the Hydroponic Dome Complex and Control Tower. If you’re on the Spaceport, check the Container Storage and Launch Towers – these four locations have the highest chance of containing the item.
