As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen and played countless games that have graced the digital landscape. However, few have left an indelible mark like Factorio. This base-building, automation-focused game is not just another sandbox title; it’s a testament to strategic gameplay and defensive tactics.
Factorio is essentially a construction and automation video game, leading the way in its genre with numerous other games following suit due to its emphasis on automation. Yet, it also incorporates an aspect of defense as waves of enemies periodically assault the player. This means you’ll need to safeguard your base from the relentless bugs that aim to wipe out your civilization and your hard-earned advancements.
Once you advance and mechanize your base a bit, consider establishing defensive structures like gun turrets and walls along the perimeter to handle the defense aspect automatically. For now, since these defenses aren’t in place yet, managing your pest problem will require traditional methods, such as using firearms.
How to Switch Weapons in Factorio
On the lower-left part of the screen, you’ll find the weapons that the character has equipped. There are three slots for weapons, allowing the player to cycle through three distinct guns without having to delve into their inventory. Given how swiftly the bugs approach the player, being able to rapidly switch between weapons is crucial.
In Factorio, the only way to expand your equipment inventory is by utilizing mods.
Why Can’t I Swap Between Weapons in Factorio?
If you find yourself unable to switch between multiple weapons you have equipped, it’s probably because you’re running low on ammunition. Each weapon in your inventory needs its own separate supply of ammo.
As a gamer, I like to right-click on the ammo currently loaded for my primary weapon, then transfer half of it to the ammo reserve below my secondary weapon. That way, when I’ve got enough ammo stocked up, I can effortlessly switch weapons without any hiccups.
Certain weapons can function exclusively with specific ammunition types, necessitating players to make these ammos themselves. Once crafted and stored in the inventory, they’ll instantly be assigned to the appropriate weapon slot.
